The Toronto Argonauts are the defending Grey Cup champions but they are playing like anything but champions in early 2018. Toronto has lost its first two games of the season and will head into Week 4 looking to finally get in the win column. Every other team in the CFL has a victory and the Argonauts are hoping not to fall too far behind. They have a tough matchup next time out against the Edmonton Eskimos.
The Argonauts are at home which should help. However, Edmonton has proven to be the better team early on and will be the favorites despite playing on the road. The Eskimos are in the much tougher West Division so they need to keep racking up wins to keep pace with the others in the division.

The Eskimos are coming in as the 4.5-point favorites. The betting public likes the home underdog in this one as Toronto is getting about two-thirds of the action. The scoring total is listed at 52.5 points and the “over” has been the more popular pick thus far.
The Toronto offense has been putried thus far but the bettors believe it will pick it up while Edmonton will continue to score at a healthy pick in CFL odds.
13. That’s the number of points per game Toronto is averaging on the year. The Argonauts began the year with a 27-19 loss at the hands of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and then were demolished by the Calgary Stampeders, 41-17, in Week 2 in a rematch of the Grey Cup. Toronto beat the Stampeders in a close game in last year’s title game but has not resembled that team thus far.
The good thing is that Edmonton has given up 90 points in three games this year. The Eskimos are 2-1 as their offense has been dynamic but the defense needs to stiffen up if the team plans on being in contention for this year’s Grey Cup.
The Argonauts had a slow start last year as well, beginning 4-7 before turning it on late. They would prefer not to dig that deep of a hole this time and a win would help cure some ills. The offense needs to figure out a way to get rolling in order for Toronto to pick up its first win of the year.
The Argonauts are coming off a bye as they hope to have ironed out some wrinkles in the downtime. The team has stressed there won’t be any major changes but it remains to be seen if there are any new roles for backups after such a lackluster start.
Toronto should be nice and rested, while Edmonton has had to play in each of the first three weeks heading into this one. It’s not a huge benefit since the season is still young but the Argonauts should be raring to go and they also had extra time to study for the Eskimos.
When it comes to the spread, the winner can often come down to a few plays, so this advantage for Toronto must be taken into account.

The Argonauts put together a Cinderella finish to claim last year’s Grey Cup but they were not the best team and are now looking like one of the worst. The home field advantage should help but Edmonton is clearly the superior foe.
Take the Eskimos to claim an important win and send Toronto tumbling to an 0-3 start, which will put its chances of repeating in serious jeopardy even though we are only a few weeks in to the CFL 2018 season.
CFL ATS Pick: Edmonton Eskimos 28, Toronto Argonauts 17
