After failing to do so last week, Manchester City is hopeful it can clinch the Premier League this week against Tottenham Hotspur. The Citizens were unable to finish their dream scenario. City was up 2-0 at home on Manchester United at halftime, and a win would have secured the title. However, they allowed three goals in the second half and kept Manchester United still alive mathematically speaking.
Tottenham will be looking to ensure its spot in the Champions League next season. Things are looking very good for Spurs in that regard. They currently sit 10 points ahead of Chelsea for a place in the lucrative competition and a win here would make it very tough for the Blues to somehow catch them.

These have been two of the best teams in England all season, but no team is hotter than Tottenham right now. Although Harry Kane was injured, that didn’t stop Spurs onslaught through the Premier League over the past month, and the club has won six straight Premier league matches.
Manchester City was even hotter until the club blew the lead to Manchester United. Still, this club is 27-3-2 on the season and can end up setting the record for most points in a season. The Citizens are well on their way to notching 100 goals and are the highest scoring team in the league by a substantial margin.

Back in December these clubs met, and Manchester City left no doubt who the better side was. The Citizens ripped apart Spurs’ back line, netting four on the evening. The result could have been worse too as Gabriel Jesus missed a penalty and other decent chances were not converted.
Raheem Sterling was the star in that match. Sterling netted a brace and drew the penalty that Jesus ended up missing. He was unleashed once Tottenham started pressing for the game-tying goal, and Sterling terrorized Spurs defense over the last half-hour.
Fernandinho will not be eligible to play in this match after picking up his 10th yellow card in Premier League play. That will leave a hole in Manchester City’s midfield. Additionally, the club is unlikely to see either left back Benjamin Mendy or central defender John Stones in action.
Tottenham have already ruled two players out for this match. Midfielder Harry Winks is not going to be able to go, and neither is defender Kyle Walker-Peters. The club is hopeful that right back Kieran Trippier will be able to play though. He sat out last week’s match, but manager Mauricio Pochettino said he just needed a short rest.

This match could be filled with fireworks. Kane is back in the line-up for Tottenham, and he has made no secret of his desire to surpass Mo Salah and win his third consecutive Golden Boot. Pochettino seems keen to trying to get Kane to that point as well, so don’t be surprised if he opens things up and attacks Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola is likely to respond in kind. He is not known to be one for engaging in defensive tactics, and his defense has been an issue recently. City is likely to constantly push forward on the attack, leading to a very entertaining game.
The over is a great bet in this one. There should be plenty of chances for both sides in this one, and that is my favorite bet. For a side, I have a slight lean to Manchester City, but that’s all it is.
English Premier League Prediction: Manchester City 3, Tottenham Hotspur 2
