Tuesday night marks the 89th Major League Baseball All Star Game and the first hosted in Washington DC since 1969 when Richard Nixon was in the first year of his first term as President of the United States. This will be the fifth time in history that the All Star Game will be hosted by Washington.
Although the game is an exhibition it remains a star-studded affair that is the biggest TV draw of the summer. The managers will come from last year’s two World Series teams and the players are chosen by a combination of fan voting along with players and the commissioner’s office aiding in the selection of reserves.

Top All Stars
Bryce Harper will be the star of stars for this event as the top representative of the host Washington Nationals. This will be Harper’s sixth All Star Game appearance. So far this year Harper is hitting just .214 but does have 23 home runs, 57 runs, and 54 runs batted in with an OPS of .833. Harper hit .319 last year and it stands to figure he will have plenty of upside. He will be the fan favorite and focal point of the game which should serve as motivation.
Matt Kemp has had a remarkable comeback season for the Dodgers this year hitting .314 with 18 doubles, 15 home runs, 42 runs, and 60 runs batted in.
Jose Altuve is a justifiable top vote getter. This year Altuve is hitting .335 with 63 runs, 44 runs batted in, 23 doubles, nine home runs, and with an OPS of .873.
Mike Trout is in his seventh All Star Game has is hitting .312 with 71 runs, 18 doubles, 25 home runs, and 50 runs batted in.
