Monday Night Brings Impressive MLB Action to Fans and Bettors

The MLB will host a full schedule of games today, including several crucial series that begin today. It's Memorial Day, and there's no better way to spend it than with MLB.

Three-Game Series Between Cardinals and Padres Begins

For their first game against the St. Louis Cardinals this season, the San Diego Padres will travel to Busch Stadium. The Padres are currently three games behind the Dodgers on the NL West standings, and they won their last series against the Pirates at Home. St. Louis split their last series with the Milwaukee Brewers, and is still 3.5 games behind the Dodgers for the lead in NL Central.

Two of the top hitters in National League are also featured in this series. Manny Machado, San Diego's offensive leader, bats.357 and has eight homers. He also has 27 RBIs. Paul Goldschmidt, the Cardinals' most powerful weapon at the plate is batting.352, with ten homers and 40 RBIs. This is third in Major League Baseball.

Nick Martinez will bring his 2-2 record with a 3.86 ERA to San Diego while Packy Naughton will make the Cardinals' second start of the season. He is 0-1 with a 2.89 ERA.

In a close game, the Cardinals will win at their home.

Mets Seek To Continue Winning Streak at Home

Tonight's three-game series between the Washington Nationals and New York Mets begins at Citi Field. The home team seeks their third consecutive win overall and fifth consecutive at home. In their last series against the Colorado Rockies at Nationals Park, the Nationals won three of four games while the Mets won three of four. The Mets swept the Philadelphia Phillies three times last night at home.

Washington is looking to improve its position in the NL East standings. They are currently 14 games behind the Mets who lead the division. They have also won four of the last five games on their home turf. Erick Fedde will start for the Nationals. For New York, it's David Peterson, who's 3-3 and has a 3.55 ERA. In 25 innings, he has a 2-0 record and a 2.16 ERA.

Tonight's Win Is For The Mets, Who Continue Their Hot Streak.

Pirates Head West to Face the Dodgers

Tonight's three-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates begins at Dodger Stadium. Pittsburgh won two of the three LA games at home a few weeks ago. They hope to improve their fourth-place ranking in the NL Central, ten behind the Milwaukee Brewers. After a ten-game road trip, the Dodgers finished 8-2 and swept the Arizona Diamondbacks. They are currently the most popular team in the National League.

Tonight's ninth start will be Zach Thompson. He has not performed as well this season. In eight starts, he's 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA. In his final game against the Rockies, he gave up seven runs and four hits over three innings. The result was a no-decision.

Walker Buehler, the Dodgers' pitcher, takes the mound in Los Angeles. He is tied for first place with a record of 6-1. His 2.91 ERA is 42 strikeouts, and he's thrown a total of 52.2 innings.

In extending their winning streak, the Dodgers will win at home.
