The Yankees and The Padres Aim for The World Series

It’s that time of the year again and Major League Baseball has officially entered the posts season stage. On one end, the New York Yankees are hoping to make it past the Cleveland Guardians to keep their World Series dreams alive this Monday afternoon. On the other hand, the San Diego Padres left the Los Angeles Dodgers in the run for the MLB Championship and will now face the Philadelphia Phillies this Tuesday night.

The Yankees are back, but still not dominating as they had expected. New York is now 2-2 against their current division rival and still pursuing a quick lead that will allow them to keep pushing for a ticket to the World Series.

The Guardians made it further than most of its fans had even expected. The Braves have now proven to be sufficient to not just matchup against the Yankees, but potentially, overtake them in this Divisional series.

New York is now the number two team in the league with 807 runs and fourth overall with a .426 slugging percentage. In pitching, the Yankees are now third in the league with a 3.30 earned run average, a 1.12 WHIP, and a .219 BAA. The Guardians have solid numbers, yet not much that can top the Yankees.

With the game heading back to New York, there is no guarantee that the Yankees will outperform the Braves as they did miss on the first home game at Yankee Stadium. However, a recent win in Atlanta might just give the Yankees this Monday afternoon when they face the Braves for game four of the series.

Padres To Take on Phillies for Game One

The Padres might just have earned the title as the most unexpected seed to remain alive in the series. The Padres not only made it into the postseason surpassing top seeds such as the San Francisco Giants.

Yet, San Diego has now left the top seed of the league out of the postseason stage. That has some value in itself, and it seems like there might be little other rivals can do to prevent the team that crushed the top seed to make it to the World Series.

The Phillies are hoping to become that team. Philadelphia surpassed the Atlanta Braves in what can also be considered a top feat. The Phillies slipped in the postseason with fewer odds in their favor than the Padres.

With two unexpected teams still fighting for a chance to make it into the World Series, there is much expectation as to what both lineups might be able to do. No question that defeating the best team in the league has some worth. That is why the Padres should kick off the series this Tuesday night with a win against Philadelphia.
