  • Betcris.com They say defense wins championships and that is definitely the case when the Texas Tech Red Raiders and Virginia Cavaliers square off in the national title game on Monday night. The explosion of offense in the game of basketball has led to plenty of excitement, but two of the best defensive clubs in the country will match wits in this one. Nobody has been able to figure out Tech’s scheme in the NCAA Tournament and UVA allows the fewest points per game of any team in the country, bringing in a low total on the college basketball betting lines.   More

  • Betcris.com After taking down the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament in the Elite Eight, the Michigan State Spartans have to be feeling good about their chances with only the Texas Tech Red Raiders standing between them and a chance at the National Championship. This is the first Final Four appearance for Tech, but they didn’t get here by accident. The Red Raiders tossed a blanket over some really good offensive clubs this season en route to an impressive 30-6 record and share of the Big 12 regular season title.   More

  • Betcris.com Winning the National Championship is just what the Virginia Cavaliers need to put that memorable first round loss to UMBC last year behind them. The Cavs used that defeat as motivation to cruise through the regular season, beating every team not named Duke. They ran into problems in the ACC tournament, losing a semifinal game and the questions arose. There were some anxious moments in the first round when the Cavs fell behind 16-seed Gardner-Webb, but adjustments were made and the Cavs are a win over the Auburn Tigers away from playing for the trophy.   More

Sweet Sixteen preview and best bets

    By Phil Simon

Betcris.com On to the Sweet 16! That’s what the top three seeds in each region said after advancing past the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament. There were no major upsets in the first two rounds with No. 12 Oregon the worst-seeded team to reach the regional semifinals. Duke, the No. 1 overall seed, escaped the upset bid of Central Florida and advanced to face ACC rival Virginia Tech in one of four Friday games. The Dookies and Virginia Cavaliers both opened as the biggest favorites in the Sweet 16 giving 7.5-points to their opponent. Five teams from the ACC are still alive, though at least one will go home. And there’s still a chance we could have an all-ACC Final Four.   More

  • Betcris.com A win is a win if it’s by one point or 100. That’s what the Duke Blue Devils will say after the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament escaped a near upset and advanced to the Sweet 16. We had a close call for one of the top seeds, but that was all we had over the first weekend. In fact the script played out almost according to plan as the No. 1s, 2s and 3s all reached the regional semifinals. And that means the top four teams on the odds board to win the 2019 NCAA men’s basketball national championship haven’t changed.   More

  • Betcris.com The field is set and it’s time to fill out your NCAA Basketball bracket as the most glorious three weeks in sports is about to begin. The field will be cut in half over the first two days as teams make their way to the ultimate destination – Minneapolis in three weeks. The journey starts here, however, and for some highly regarded teams it will end in disappointment. That’s just the way it is. You can ask Tony Bennett and his Virginia Cavaliers, who last year became the first No. 1 seed in tournament history to lose to a No. 16 seed.   More

    College Basketball Futures Odds

    By Phil Simon

Betcris.com The 68-team field for the 2019 NCAA basketball tournament has been announced, and the odds for teams to cut down the nets in Minneapolis in April have been released. And to no one’s surprise the Duke Blue Devils are at the top of the list with odds of +175. The Dookies were the favorite even when there were concerns about the health of Zion Williamson. Those were answered in the ACC tournament and Duke appears poised to make the only year for the heralded freshman class a memorable one.   More

  • Betcris.com It’s a near lock that the Kentucky Wildcats make it to the SEC Tournament championship game. And it’s another good bet that they win it. The Wildcats have played for a chance to cut down the nets in eight of the last nine seasons, winning it in the last four and 31 times overall. That’s five more tournament titles than the other 13 conference teams combined. The SEC is as strong as it’s ever been, though, making the Cats’ path to another title a little more difficult.   More

    ACC Tournament Schedule and Picks

    By Tom Wilkinson

Betcris.com Three of the best teams in the country will be featured in the ACC Tournament, as the North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils and Virginia Cavaliers battle for the title. Virginia and North Carolina tied for the regular season title and they are the top two seeds, while Duke is the third seed. The Blue Devils could be the team to beat though, as Zion Williamson is expected to return for Duke. Let’s look at the ACC Tournament and picks.   More

  • Betcris.com On February 20 the North Carolina Tar Heels scored an 88-72 upset win at the Duke Blue Devils as 10-point underdogs. It was another case of one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports not really having a true favorite in the NCAA Basketball matchup. But overshadowing all was the knee injury to Duke’s Zion Williamson. The star forward blew out a pair of new Nike shoes and his knee and has been out of the lineup ever since. Williamson remains doubtful for any more action, at least in the immediate future. But as was proven last month you can throw out the records and intangibles when these two teams meet!   More

  • Betcris.com The top two teams in the Big East meet on Wednesday night in a game that can be seen on FS1. Both Marquette and Villanova will be in next month’s NCAA Tournament, but it could be that Marquette will be the team to watch and not the defending national champs. Marquette beat Villanova earlier this season and with a win on Wednesday they could pretty much wrap up the regular season Big East title. Let’s look at Wednesday’s game and college basketball picks.   More

  • Betcris.com The most anticipated game in the NCAA Big Ten so far this season takes place on Sunday afternoon, as the Michigan State Spartans visit the Michigan Wolverines on CBS. Both teams are battling with Purdue for the top spot in the conference, so this is a huge game. Surprisingly, it is the first meeting of the season between the Spartans and Wolverines and it won’t be the last one, as they meet again in two weeks in Lansing and they could meet again in the Big Ten Tournament. Let’s look at Sunday’s game and college basketball picks.   More

  • Betcris.com The best rivalry in NCAA college basketball gets another chapter on Wednesday night, as the North Carolina Tar Heels visit the Duke Blue Devils. Not only are these two of the top teams in the ACC, they are also two of the top teams in the country, as both are ranked in the Top 10. Even though it is nearly March, these teams have not yet played this season. They will meet again in the regular season finale in Chapel Hill on March 9. The Volunteers lead the SEC, while the Wildcats are in third place. Kentucky was in second place, but they suffered a last second loss to LSU on Tuesday. Despite the fact that the Volunteers are ranked No. 1 in the country, they are going to be road underdogs at Kentucky. Let’s look at Saturday’s game and college basketball picks.   More

  • Betcris.com The Indiana Hoosiers and their NCAA Basketball fans may soon have to come to the realization that the glory days of dominance are simply not in the cards anymore in this new modern era of college basketball. • Betcris.com Since taking over the Michigan State basketball program for the 1995-96 season head coach Tom Izzo has made the Spartans one of the most consistent college basketball operations that can be found anywhere. Once again, the Spartans are atop the Big Ten Conference and primed for their first Final   More

  • Betcris.com There could not be a starker contrast in college basketball as far as quality teams that use vastly different methods for their success than between the Virginia Cavaliers and Duke Blue Devils. Virginia wins games the old-fashioned way, the EARN it. In his tenth season as head coach Tony Bennett has built a culture that is tough as nails and built on a rock-ribbed defense that is clearly the best in the land. By contrast the Duke Blue Devils are a blue blood of the sport. Indeed, head coach Mike Krzyzewski, now in his 39th season in Durham, has a much flashier program that utilizes the top recruits in the land. Duke will host Virginia in a highly anticipated Atlantic Coast Conference showdown of top five teams Saturday night.   More

  • Betcris.com In his 39th NCAA Basketball season as head coach, Mike Krzyzewski has firmly established himself as one of the greatest of all time.
