On February 20 the North Carolina Tar Heels scored an 88-72 upset win at the Duke Blue Devils as 10-point underdogs. It was another case of one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports not really having a true favorite in the NCAA Basketball matchup. But overshadowing all was the knee injury to Duke’s Zion Williamson. The star forward blew out a pair of new Nike shoes and his knee and has been out of the lineup ever since. Williamson remains doubtful for any more action, at least in the immediate future. But as was proven last month you can throw out the records and intangibles when these two teams meet!

North Carolina has been in good form with four payouts in their last six games and five of their last seven games going under the total. The Tar Heels are one of the most profitable teams on the NCAA College Basketball board. UNC is now 25-5 straight up, 18-10-2 against the spread with 14-16 under the total. Carolina shares the lead with Virginia in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Duke has failed to cover the spread in five of their last seven games and their value problems began even before the disaster against North Carolina. The Blue Devils have gone under the total in seven of their last ten games. As a result, Coach K and crew have a record of 26-4 straight up, 17-13 against the spread and 8-20-2 under the total. Duke is third in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Duke ranks an impressive seventh in the nation for scoring offense and second in the country for offensive rebounds. The Blue Devils rank 60th in the nation for points allowed and 14th best for shooting percentage permitted. North Carolina is one of the top offensive teams in the country with a national ranking of third for scoring offense. But offsetting that is a defense that ranks 226th for points allowed.
RJ Barrett leads Duke with 23.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Forward Luke Maye has powered North Carolina with 14.9 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

Duke has not held much betting value as a road dog recently as shown by their mark of just two payouts in their last seven games in that role. The Blue Devils have gone over the total in four of their last six getting points on the road. Balanced against that is the relatively decent betting value of North Carolina as a home chalk. UNC has lost just five of their last 12 games laying points at the Dean Dome with four of their last six in that situation going over the total.
Head to Head
North Carolina has won and covered three of their last four meetings with Duke as all four games went under the total. Duke has failed to get the money in three of their last five visits to Chapel Hill with four of the last six meetings between these teams at the Dean Dome going under the total.
Duke vs. North Carolina Free Picks
Duke will be super motivated here and should have enough firepower to take advantage of the weak North Carolina defense. All intangibles point to the Blue Devils.
