Anthony Davis makes his return to New Orleans as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night and there is no question he will face a hostile reception. Davis basically quit on his team last season and forced a trade, so the Pelicans traded the star player to the Lakers. The fans in New Orleans will be booing Davis vehemently on Wednesday night in what should be an interesting contest. Let’s look at the game between the Lakers and Pelicans and NBA Free picks.

The Lakers will be wrapping up a four-game road trip on Wednesday. Los Angeles has the best record in the league and it hasn’t mattered whether they are at home or on the road. They were 8-1 in their first nine home games and 6-1 in their first seven road games. The difference is against the spread, as the Lakers were 6-3 ATS at home and 3-4 ATS on the road. Los Angeles is averaging 112 points per game and giving up 103 per contest. They went over the total in four of their first seven road games.
Davis realizes that he is going to face a hostile crowd on Wednesday. "I know the fans are gonna boo me. I got booed when I was still playing there. It's gonna be fun for me, like man, it's another game, I just wanna win a game. I don't care 'AD had 10 points, they shut him down.' I don't care." Davis said to the media. He went on to say that he expects to be nervous. "I know I'm gonna be nervous—I never get nervous before a game, but I'll probably be nervous before that game."
Davis can ask his teammate LeBron James how to handle things, as James returned to Cleveland as member of the Miami Heat in 2010 and probably got the most negative crowd reaction in NBA history.
The Pelicans will have had two days off to get ready for this game, as they are coming off a three-game road trip. New Orleans is still without top pick Zion Williamson who will not return until next month. The Pelicans have struggled on the road, but they are 4-4 at home. New Orleans is also 5-3 ATS at home, with four NBA games going over and four going under. They are averaging about 116 points per game, but giving up about 119 per contest.
The Pelicans do have three former LA Lakers who will have some added motivation in this one. Brandon Ingram is showing he is a potential superstar, as he is leading the team in scoring, averaging about 26 points per game. Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball are also integral parts of the Pelicans.
The Pelicans have won six of the last ten in this series, with six of the last ten going over the total. They have also won seven of the last ten at home in this series with the last four going over the total.
There is no question that the motivation in this game is going to be with the Pelicans. New Orleans has played better at home than on the road and this is a much better spot for the Pelicans than it is for the Lakers. I will take the Pelicans plus the points and also play the game over the total.
Lakers vs. Pelicans Score Prediction: Pelicans 120, Lakers 115
