The big news from the Alliance of American Football this week was the signing of Johnny Manziel to the Memphis Express. And, according to coach Mike Singletary, there’s a chance Johnny Football takes the field for this week’s game. That’s great news for the Express, who are running out of time to creep out of the cellar in the Eastern Conference. Memphis has just one victory this season and the worst offense in the league, and with only four games left they need a spark. Enter Manziel, who we should call John now that he’s supposedly turned a corner.
In other news, there won’t be an undefeated team in the first year of the Alliance’s existence. That’s because the Orlando Apollos were upset at home by Arizona, 22-16. It was a huge win for the Hotshots, who moved into a tie for second with San Diego, one game behind San Antonio in the Western Conference. That tie will be broken this week when the Fleet head to the desert. Salt Lake can create havoc in the West with a win over first place San Antonio. The Stallions are just two games off the pace despite having the lowest scoring offense in the West. Here’s a look at the AAF live betting slate for Week 7.

Orlando Apollos at Atlanta Legends, Saturday, March 23, 2 p.m. ET (TNT)
Opening Line: Orlando Apollos -8.5, O/U 42
Despite suffering their first loss of the season, the Apollos remain the top team in the East and in the Alliance of American Football hrough six weeks. Having the best offense and the second-best defense usually means good things. The offense isn’t a surprise with the creative mind of Steve Spurrier drawing up plays. Orlando tallied its lowest point total of the season in last week’s 22-17 loss, and you know the Old Ball Coach wasn’t happy about that. The Legends need a win to say within striking distance of the top two spots, but their league-worst defense will be exploited by passing leader Garrett Gilbert in an Orlando victory.
ATS Pick: Orlando Apollos -8.5
Salt Lake Stallions at San Antonio Commanders, Saturday, March 23, 8 p.m. ET (NFLN)
Opening Line: San Antonio Commanders -5, O/U 40.5
The West will become wild should the visiting Stallions pull off the upset. The matchup between the first-place Commanders and Salt Lake goes down inside the Alamodome with NFL Network providing coverage. This is the first of two meetings in the final four weeks between the clubs and the Stallions are just two games off the lead. They ended a two-game losing streak by taking down Memphis, 22-9, last week. It was a nice response for the Stallions after losing to San Diego the week before on a last-second field goal. San Antonio scored 66 points in the last two weeks, but it will be more difficult against a tough Stallions group. I like the Commanders at home for the win, but it’s going to be close.
ATS Pick: Salt Lake Stallions +5
San Diego Fleet at Arizona Hotshots, Sunday, March 24, 4 p.m. ET (CBSSN)
Opening Line: Arizona Hotshots -3.5, O/U 39.5
There’s a lot on the line in this matchup when a pair of 3-3 second-place teams meet in the desert on CBS Sports Network. Arizona snapped a three-game skid with an upset on the road over previously unbeaten Orlando to move into a tie with San Diego, which lost a tough one to Birmingham. The Fleet are the second-highest scoring team in the AAF, which isn’t surprising since Mike Martz is their coach, and they’ve gotten strong play from QB Mike Bercovici, who threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns last week. Arizona has been too erratic and I believe Martz will outcoach Rick Neuheisel in this one leading to a San Diego victory.
ATS Pick: San Diego Fleet +3.5
Birmingham Iron at Memphis Express, Sunday, March 24, 8 p.m. ET (NFLN)
Opening Line: Birmingham Iron -3, O/U 37
There’s a good chance we see Johnny Manziel for some of this matchup between the Iron and Express and that will be worth tuning into NFL Network to watch. Besides, what does Memphis have to lose? In a matchup of 1-4 teams last week, the Express reached the basement of the entire league with a 22-9 loss to the Stallions in Salt Lake City. And the loss of Zach Mettenberger to injury made the move to Manziel a necessity. Brandon Silvers took over after Mettenberger was hurt on Memphis’ first series and had little success. Coach Mike Singletary said Silvers would “definitely” start on Sunday, but also left open the possibility of Manziel making an appearance. That should boost the lackluster offense, but it won’t be enough to get the Express a win.
ATS Pick: Birmingham Iron -3
