The Montreal Alouettes have put together a horrid season in 2018, and even worse, the entertainment factor is currently missing as well. Former Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Johnny Manziel started a pair of game for Montreal this season after being acquired via trade, but was sidelined last time out with a concussion.
Manziel has not returned to the practice field this week and it seems unlikely he plays in a Week 11 matchup against the Toronto Argonauts. The Argonauts won the Grey Cup last season but have started just 3-5 on the year. They still have hope for a turnaround but the Alouettes look dead in the water with a 1-8 mark, which is the worst in the Canadian Football League. Keep an eye on Manziel’s availability but things are not looking promising for him in CFL gambling.

The Argonauts enter this game as the 5.5-point favorites despite playing this matchup on the road. That’s how putrid the Alouettes have been this season. Toronto is also getting a vast majority of the money to cover, with more than 80 percent of the action heading toward the Argonauts.
The scoring total is listed at 52.5 points as there should be some explosive plays in this one and possibly quite a few turnovers. The “over” is the heavy favorite among bettors with more than 87 percent of the action in NFL betting lines.
Manziel had a brutal first start with the Alouettes, as he threw for 104 yards and four interceptions. It wasn’t all his fault, as Manziel didn’t really know the playbook and had few weapons to help him at the skill positions. He was better in his second game, throwing for 168 yards without a pick but has yet to throw a touchdown pass in the CFL. Manziel could improve again if he can get back out there.
If not, Anthony Pipkin is expected to start. He was 14-of-25 for 217 yards with a touchdown and an interception last time out but the Alouettes still lost.
The Argonauts have handed the reins to McLeod Bethel-Thompson, who is trying to fill in well. Starting quarterback Ricky Ray suffered a serious neck injury earlier this year, and while he is now out of a neck brace, his recovery could still take a while.
Three. That’s the number of games under .500 the Argonauts were at one point last year when they began the season 4-7. They broke out of it in a big way, finishing 9-9 in the regular season and rolling all the way to the CFL title.
Toronto is two games under .500 this year but does not want to fall into a similar hole as last season, as that is not something easy to get out from. This is a very winnable road game for the Argonauts and they must take advantage.

The Alouettes can’t possibly be awful all year. Pipkin moved the Montreal offense a but last week and will aim to put up some points against the Argonauts. Toronto is not good enough to be giving this many points on the road. While the Argonauts will come away with the victory, the Alouettes are the pick to cover the spread in CFL gambling. Take the “over” on the scoring total as this one could be a shootout.
CFL ATS Pick: Toronto Argonauts 30, Montreal Alouettes 27
