Week 15 College Football Odds at BetCris:
Army vs. Navy TV Coverage: CBS
Army comes into this game with a winning record but to get there they scheduled Morgan State who they beat 60-3 three weeks ago. And another one of the wins this season by Army was against Lafayette. The Black Knights are 6-5 SU and 6-5 ATS this season. They are scoring 30 points per game and allowing 19 points per contest but keep in mind that those numbers are padded by the wins over Lafayette and Morgan State who they beat by scores of 62-7 and 60-3.
Navy comes into this game with the better record and the better team but focus is a huge issue for Navy in this contest. Navy had a chance to get into a big bowl game for the first time since 1963 but they completely laid an egg against Temple and lost the AAC title game 34-10. Navy’s head coach Ken Niumatalolo had no answers, “It starts with me as the head coach, and you have to give credit to [Temple Coach] Matt [Rhule] because his team was prepared.”
The Midshipmen not only lost to Temple but they lost quarterback Will Worth to a knee injury. Worth tore the ACL in his right knee and is out for the season. On the same play that Worth was injured, slotback Toneo Gulley was also hurt and he is out. The Midshipmen now have to find a way to beat Army without their two best offensive players. Navy is also without defensive captain Daniel Gonzales who has a Lisfranc injury.
Navy is 3-2 all-time against Army when the games are played in Baltimore. Niumatalolo is 8-0 all-time against Army. The Black Knights are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games in December. The Black Knights are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the AAC. The Midshipmen are 17-8-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall.
Looking at the total, The Under is 9-4 in the Black Knights last 13 games overall. The Under is 13-3 in the Black Knights last 16 games in December. The Over is 6-the Midshipmen last 8 games overall. The Under is 13-3 in the Midshipmen last 16 games in December. The Under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings in this series.
Army vs. Navy Free Picks
If you look at the stats then Navy should roll in this game as they are the better team but there are a number of factors that point to Army in this contest. First, Navy is dealing with some serious injuries with three of their best players out for this game. Second, Navy has not had a break in about two months while Army has had three weeks to prepare. Third, Navy is coming off one of the most disappointing losses in recent school history as they had a chance to play in a huge bowl game and choked it away with the loss to Temple.
I am a little surprised the number on this game is over a touchdown considering all of Navy’s injury problems. If Navy was healthy I would probably back the Midshipmen but I don’t know that they can put last week’s loss to Temple behind them and win this game by more than a TD, if they win at all. I will take the points at BetCris and go with Army and I will also play the game under the total.
Army vs. Navy ATS Pick: Army +8.5 at BetCris
