It is amazing how the results of a previous week can have such a profound impact on the College football betting lines. Last week’s bum can quickly turn into the following week’s powerhouse favorite. And vice versa. The Virginia Tech Hokies were touted as a potential bounce back team for 2019. Their sluggish start has served to turn gamblers completely off with a loss of faith. By contrast the Wisconsin Badgers were all but ignored in the offseason after their flop as playoff chalks one year ago. Following their mauling of the Michigan Wolverines the Badgers are back as a public favorite. The Stanford Cardinal are no longer considered a power while the Oklahoma Sooners are impressing all. Let’s analyze some odds for Week Five!

College Football Week 5 Betting Odds Analysis
Duke Blue Devils at Virginia Tech Hokies, Friday, September 27, 2019, 7 p.m. ET, ESPN
Virginia Tech opened as a 7-point favorite but its now down to 2.5-points. That is because the Hokies barely escaped in a 24-17 win over 1-AA Furman and rank 84th for scoring offense while, their defense is a mediocre 55th for points allowed. Tech has failed to cover four of their last six as a home chalk. By contrast Duke has gotten the cash in 10 of their last 13 as away pups.
Northwestern Wildcats at Wisconsin Badgers, Saturday, September 28, 2019, Noon ET, ABC
Wisconsin opened as a 21-point chalk but has been bet up to 24-points. This could be a potential letdown trap for the Badgers after their 35-14 destruction of Michigan. Wisky has failed to cover four of their last six as home chalks of 20+ points. By contrast the Cats have covered eight of their last nine as double digit road dogs and their last two visits to Camp Randall Stadium as pups.
Iowa State Cyclones at Baylor Bears, Saturday, September 28, 2019, 3:30 p.m. ET, ESPN
Baylor opened as a 3.5-point home chalk but the public is all over an Iowa State team that is now favored by two points. Baylor will be a quality home dog with their 3-0 record and a record of 7-2 against the line as home pups. This line looks like a wild reach and flip to the Cyclones. ISU has left Waco with the money in just two of their last six visits.
Stanford Cardinal at Oregon State Beavers, Saturday, September 28, 2019, 7 p.m. ET, Pac 12 Network
Stanford opened as a 5.5-point favorites but was bet down to 3-points. Stanford Head coach David Shaw has not found any answers in a three-game losing streak at the USC Trojans, at the UCF Knights and last week at home 21-6 loss to the Oregon Ducks. But a move towards the Oregon State Beavers may be a reach as they continue to struggle through a painful rebuild. Stanford has paid in seven of their last nine against the Beavers.
Texas Tech Red Raiders at Oklahoma Sooners, Saturday, September 28, 2019, Noon ET, Check Listings
Oklahoma opened as a 23-point home favorite and has been bet up to 26-points. Sooners quarterback Jalen Hurts is flashing a full Heisman pose and is in X-Box mode with a blistering pace of numbers. OU has covered six of their last seven home games against Texas Tech.
Northwestern is plucky enough to keep it close at Wisconsin. Oklahoma makes for a strong power play with the College football betting lines. And Baylor is getting points that it should not receive.
