Quarterback with the Most Passing Yards and Touchdown Passes
LSU quarterback Joe Burrow opened with an over under of 365 yards passing while Trevor Lawrence of Clemson opened at 295 yards passing. Of course, Burrow is the Heisman Trophy winner for 2019 with an insane rating of 204. 6 to go with 10. 9 yards per attempt, 55 touchdowns and six interceptions. Lawrence quarterbacked Clemson to the national title last year and posted a relatively strong 173. 2 rating with 9. 3 yards per attempt to go with 36 touchdowns and eight interceptions. In looking at the quarterback props assessing the respective team defenses in the best way to go. Clemson boasts the number one defense in the country both overall and for points allowed. Most important of all they ranked first in the nation for pass defense. Considering that their opponents were having to pass in comeback attempts you have a proven unit that gives Lawrence the advantage.
Pointspread Alternative LSU Tigers -8. 5 +140
Clearly the defending national champion Clemson Tigers are being slighted here. This is a case where LSU and Burrow are getting over the top public hype that ignores Clemson’s championship pedigree.
Clemson Total Points in Game 31. 5
It is undeniable that LSU’s defense came a long strong at the end with peak performances down the stretch. However, that does not take away from the fact that LSU’s defense ranked a very good but not dominant 32nd overall in the land.
LSU Total Points in Game 36. 5
Again, we point to Clemson’s top ranked overall and pass defense going up against the LSU attack. As good as LSU is clearing 36 points is no sure thing against the Brent Venables led Clemson defense.
Longest Touchdown Yardage in the Game 66. 5 Yards
With all of the scoring firepower, speed, and top flight offensive personnel on the field for this matchup it stands to figure that at least a couple of big plays will break.
Will a Special Teams or Defensive Touchdown Be Scored?
This one opened at yes +170 with no at -250. Yes, makes for a good value bet here based on the defensive ability of both teams not to mention the speed that each team possesses for kick and turnover returns.
Will Either Team Score 3 Unanswered Times in the Game?
Yes, opened at -450 with no at +275. With two evenly matched teams yes is a terrible overlay and poor value.
Team to Record Most First Downs Clemson -120, LSU -120
With the edge to Clemson on defense the Tigers should eventually wear down LSU in the first down totals.
Best Bets: Trevor Lawrence over the total for passing yards, no for three unanswered scores, and Clemson for most first downs. Also bet against the LSU Pointspread alternative
