AFC Championship GAME Titans vs Chiefs FREE PICKS

The AFC Championship Game takes place on Sunday on CBS, as the Tennessee Titans visit the Kansas City Chiefs. The Titans have been road warriors in this year’s NFL Playoffs, as they have upset the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens in back-to-back weeks, while the Chiefs are coming off a home win last week against the Houston Texans. The game between the Titans and Chiefs is a rematch of a game earlier this season that the Titans won by a score of 35-32. Let’s look at Sunday’s rematch and NFL picks.

Sunday’s game is a contrast in styles, as the Titans are all about running the ball with Derrick Henry and playing defense, while the Chiefs are all about throwing the ball with Patrick Mahomes and hoping their defense does enough so they can outscore the other team. This will be the second straight season for Andy Reid and the Chiefs in the AFC Championship game, as they were beaten last year by the Patriots. The Chiefs are listed as home favorites in this contest and history is on their side, as 8 of the last 10 AFC title games have been won by the home team.

The Titans will rely heavily on Derrick Henry who has rushed for 377 yards on 64 carries in the past two weeks. Henry ran all over the Chiefs in their earlier meeting, rushing for 188 yards in a 35-32 win. Tennessee will need to take time off the clock and keep the ball away from Mahomes if they are to win. Kansas City has been excellent at home recently, winning their last four home games by a combined 81 points. Mahomes has two excellent targets in tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill. The two combined for 18 catches and 232 receiving yards in the first meeting against the Titans.

Key Trends

The Titans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings in Kansas City. The Titans are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Titans are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 vs. the AFC. The Chiefs are 6-0-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Chiefs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games as a home favorite.

Looking at the total, the Under is 7-1 in the Titans last 8 playoff games. The Over is 5-2 in the Chiefs last 7 home games.

Titans vs. Chiefs Free Picks

It was a really good week for me in the divisional round, as I went 3-1 with the predictions and I swept the AFC games with the Titans and Chiefs winning. Unlike last week, this is a tougher call for me, as I like both Tennessee and Kansas City. I do, however, think the value is on the Titans. They have the ability to shorten this game with Henry running the ball and this Tennessee team knows how to win on the road. The Chiefs better not have any missteps like they had last week against Houston because Mike Vrabel won’t make bad coaching decisions like Bill O’Brien did and the Titans won’t fold under pressure. I don’t think Kansas City can stop Henry and while I don’t think Tennessee can stop Mahomes, I think they can at least slow him down. I will take the points with the Titans on Sunday.
