The Bengals and Cowboys both have settled quarterback situations as well as a lot of the same players from a season ago, so there aren’t any big reasons why either team should have the advantage in this one. With that in mind, Dallas is a slight favorite as the home team.
The Cowboys have more talent in their starting lineups but it is tough to know how the game will play out once backups enter the mix. Cincinnati won its preseason opener while Dallas lost its debut this season in NFL wagering.
This NFL football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys will be held at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas at 7 p.m ET on Saturday, August 18th, 2018. The contest will be nationally televised on NFL Network.
The Cowboys enter as three-point favorites for this one and have a vig of -120 to cover. Even there the majority of the action is on Dallas to cover, so the gamblers have made their preference known. The Cowboys are listed at -170 on the moneyline while the Bengals are +148, and again Dallas is getting the majority of the action.
The scoring total is listed at 41 points, with the “over” the more popular selection in NFL odds.
Last Time Out
The Bengals emerged victorious in Week 1 by a score of 30-27 over the Bears. Cincinnati scored 23 points in the first half as quarterback Andy Dalton threw for 103 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Gio Bernard looked good, carrying the ball four times for 23 yards. A.J. Green had a pair of catches for 48 yards in limited work and is always a threat when he’s on the field.
The Cowboys fell to the 49ers by a score of 24-21. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott looked impressive in limited action, completing 3-of-3 passes for 39 yards and a touchdown. He is a huge key to the team’s success in 2018 and will aim to have another nice performance. Rookie Bp Scarbrough had a nice debut, carrying the ball nine times for 33 yards and a score. Dallas has some new weapons at wide receiver this season and those faces saw some action. Tavon Austin caught a pair of passes for 25 yards while Allen Hurns had one reception for 13 yards.
We'll have NFL football odds at BETCRIS available for every game of the 2018 NFL season.
No Zeke Elliott Expected
Cowboys running back Zeke Elliott is unlikely to play in this contest as the team mostly keeps him under wraps during the preseason. Elliott didn’t play in the opener and is likely to only get a series in the third preseason game. Elliott is one of the most talented running backs in the NFL.
He accumulated 1,631 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground as a rookie but missed six games a year ago due to suspension. Elliott still nearly totaled 1,000 yards on the ground, but the Cowboys offense didn’t hum like it did in 2016. He is aiming to get back and be effective all year in 2018 but not in the preseason.
Free NFL ATS Picks
The Cowboys are playing at home and want to put on a nice show for their fans. This one should remain close throughout as the backups decide the contest. Dallas is the pick to win the contest late but the Bengals are getting too many points to go away from them.
Take Cincinnati to cover despite the loss in NFL gambling.
NFL ATS Pick: Dallas Cowboys 21, Cincinnati Bengals 20
