The San Francisco 49ers are favored to win the NFC West in 2020. The 49ers went 13-3 last season and had a chance to win the Super Bowl before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs. It is oftentimes hard for a team to bounce back from losing a Super Bowl, but the 49ers begin the season as the solid favorite to win the NFC West.
The Seattle Seahawks are the second choice, while the Los Angeles Rams are the third choice and the Arizona Cardinals the longshot. Let’s look at NFC West odds and each of the four teams.
2020 NFC West Odds
San Francisco 49ers +105
The 49ers look pretty much the same as they did a year ago. They did lose Joe Staley and Emmanuel Sanders, but they added Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk. The 49ers did virtually everything right a year ago but they didn’t hit a big pass in the Super Bowl and they let the Chiefs back in the game. It may be difficult to get past last year’s loss, but there is no question that the 49ers still have the most talent of any team in the division. One thing that you should be aware of is that the 49ers have the fourth-toughest schedule in the NFL this season. The 49ers may very well win the NFC West again this season, but there is no value in betting them at odds of even money.
Seattle Seahawks +210
The Seahawks could be a little better on offense with the addition of tight end Greg Olsen, but they could be weaker on defense with the probable loss of Jadeveon Clowney. Seattle is still a team that relies heavily on Russell Wilson to make plays on offense, but they need more playmakers on defense to take the next step and beat the 49ers. The Seahawks have the 13th-toughest schedule in the NFL this season, so they have a slight advantage over San Francisco in regards to the schedule. What could hurt the Seahawks is that their great home-field advantage could be worthless if there are no fans in the stands.

Los Angeles Rams +465
The Rams took a step back last season as they went 9-7 and they are not getting much respect heading into the 2020 season. The Rams lost a lot in the off-season, as gone are Brandin Cooks, Todd Gurley, Dante Fowler, Cory Littleton, Nickell Robey-Coleman, and Greg Zuerlein. The team also replaced defensive coordinator Wade Philips with Brandon Staley. The losses on offense are nothing to worry about, as Gurley hasn’t been any good the last couple of years, and Cooks is overrated. The defensive losses are of more concern. I think the Rams are being undervalued, as Sean McVay is still a great offensive coach and it is not like the Rams were that good on defense anyway.
Arizona Cardinals +820
The Cardinals made the biggest off-season move in the division, as they added wide receiver, DeAndre Hopkins. He is one of the top receivers in the league and he is a huge addition for Arizona’s offense. There is no question that Arizona’s offense is going to be better, as Hopkins gives Kyle Murray a great No. 1 receiving option and the team still has Larry Fitzgerald. The problem is on defense, as the Cardinals simply don’t have enough talent on that side of the ball. The concern if you like Arizona is that Kliff Kingsbury is not a good coach. He was overrated in college and he is overrated in the pros. It also could be that Murray isn’t going to be a franchise quarterback. We should find out a lot more about Kingsbury and Murray in year two.
