NHL – Philadelphia Flyers vs. Washington Capitals

Three years ago, the Chicago Blackhawks were still a hot item with the NHL betting lines. Consider the fact that the Hawks earned 109 points and were the top seed heading into the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs. But since getting swept that year by the eighth seeded Nashville Predators, the once Mighty Blackhawks have failed to return to post season and will miss out for the third consecutive campaign.

By contrast the defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues are rampaging through the regular season as the top team in the Western Conference and one of the betting favorites to win the Cup again this spring.

The tables have turned in this rivalry as the Blackhawks have lost the firm upper hand that they once wielded without mercy on the Blues. Chicago is now outclassed by St. Louis.

NHL Betting Odds – Philadelphia Flyers vs. Washington Capitals

Philadelphia has always had plenty of offense but the difference that Vigneault has made is finding reliable defense and goaltending to go with it. By contrast, the Washington Capitals have never been the same since winning their 2018 Stanley Cup championship. The Caps are back to their old bad habits of playing half a game, with the defensive zone a mere afterthought more often than not.
