NHL Odds St Louis vs Boston Game 7 Wednesday

So far, the 2019 Stanley Cup Final has been a road team affair. And that was never more evident than on Sunday night in game five. In that situation the Boston Bruins were facing elimination while the St. Louis Blues were on the brink of clinching their first ever Stanley Cup in franchise history in front of their home fans. After a tight first two periods in which Boston led 1-0 the dam broke in the third period and the Bruins forced a seventh game with a 5-1 win. Now the series shifts back to Boston for the seventh, final, and deciding game of the series.

Stanley Cup Final Update

So far, the road team has won four of the six games in this series between Boston and St. Louis. Four of the six games have also gone over the total. The winner of game seven will be presented the Stanley Cup.

Boston Makes Game Six Statement

Following game five’s 2-1 St. Louis win in which the Blues got the clinching goal off a missed tripping penalty the Bruins were not shy about blasting the officiating. And there were concerns about their ability to re-focus for what was an elimination game. The Bruins more than passed the test with a resounding do or die win. Just as important two of their top performers came through when it mattered most. Brad Marchand got the critical first goal of the game for Boston. And David Pastrnak lit the lamp late in the third. Just for good measure Zdeno Chara, who is playing with a broken jaw, got the empty netter to end the game at 5-1. Facing sudden death and adversity the Bruins rose to the occasion. It should be noted that Boston has won all three of their games this year when facing elimination.

Can Blues Rebound?

St. Louis have proven to be the most resilient team in the NHL. Starting with their climb as worst team in the league on January 3 to one-win shy of the Stanley Cup title the Blues have been an inspiring story. Game six was a colossal disappointment for the city of St. Louis. Blues fans partied all day downtown near Enterprise Center in anticipation of their team making history. The loss was a letdown for all concerned. But before anyone writes off the Blues, they should take note that St. Louis has won six of their last nine games when coming off a loss.

Goaltending Analysis

Tuukka Rask was clutch in game six as he stopped 28 out of 29 Boston shots in the Bruins win. Rask is the leading candidate for the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff most valuable player. So far in the Stanley Cup Final he has a save percentage of .925.

For St. Louis rookie goaltender Jordan Binnington is the reason they gained the Final. Now in this series Binnington has been inconsistent with a .901 save percentage but, like Rask, has been at his best with the pressure on the most.

Blues vs. Bruins Free Picks

This has been an even series in which the home team has not offered much in the way of betting value. St. Louis has actually been a better bet on the road than at home.

Blues vs. Bruins Pick: Bet the St. Louis Blues

Blues vs. Bruins Score Prediction: Blues 3, Bruins 2
