Note: we’ll make updates as soon as details are released on future cards. The UFC tends to load up on 1-2 major pay-per-view cards per quarter - tentpole events where even the prelims are brimming with awesome fights.

The smaller Fight Night cards fall into two categories: ESPN and ESPN+ cards. Typically, the ESPN proper cards are supposed to be “bigger”, but we’ve seen ESPN+ streaming cards with ridiculously strong lineups as well. This comes with the caveat that there are plenty of nights where there is literally one fight you might care about. We’ll make sure to zero in those as needed.

Despite losing his last two contests, Romero is as deserving a challenger as any. There’s a reason why he’s fought in his fourth title bout: the man is a freaking monster. Guys get injured, he steps up. Every time he fights a UFC championship level fighter, he either trashes his opponent or severely damages them en route to a razor-close decision. He’s still competing at the highest level and can beat any middleweight on any given day.

Adesanya has grown into one of the UFC’s biggest stars. In addition to having the flashiest kickboxing since Anderson Silva, The Last Stylebender has a sick nickname, endless swag, and an A+ Twitter game. The phenom not only owns wins over guys like Robert Whittaker, Kelvin Gastelum, and Derek Brunson, he’s absolutely styled on a few of them.

If the champion wants to be known as the best middleweight in the world, Romero is absolutely a guy he has to beat - Stylebender is fully aware of this too. The UFC odds at Betcris are favoring the champ in this matchup, opening with him as a big -235 favorite, with Romero at +195 on the comeback. Let’s break down your best betting values at the online sportsbook and make some picks.

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Romero is highly unlikely to use his wrestling here. While it might be tempting to think that the Olympic wrestler wraps his arms around the champ’s narrow frame, Romero has never been a fighter that relies on takedowns and GNP to get his victories. Plus, Adesanya’s takedown defense looked excellent against Derek Brunson. The Cuban is fully aware that trying to take down the champ would only serve to drain his stamina meter.

On paper, Adesanya is the better striker. He lands at a higher rate, possesses a more dynamic arsenal and operates with greater creativity. But that’s not something that worries Soldier, who will gladly drop rounds while waiting for the perfect time to strike. When he does commit to his signature fight-ending blitzes, the results are some of the most violent moments in MMA. Even at 42 years old, he’s still one of the most powerful, explosive guys in the sport.

Word of warning: this might not be exciting as you’d expect. Adesanya does his best work as a counterstriker, while Romero spends a lot of time probing without committing. Don’t be surprised if there are prolonged periods of circling and feinting.

UFC Odds Pick: Adesanya to win at -235

Romero fights the same way every time, but that doesn’t make him easy to prepare for. However, Whittaker was able to survive two of his onslaughts, and Costa was largely able to avoid them. Adesanya is more skilled on the feet than either of them, and his chin hasn’t really taken too much damage yet. This is his fight to lose.

UFC Odds Pick: Romero to win by TKO

This is your hedge play: Romero does not win by decision. If he does pull of the upset, it’ll be through one of his trademark blitzes. Maximize your return by picking the most likely method of victory.
