Stephen Thompson -165 vs. Darren Till
Thompson has looked really good in almost all of his fights, as he is 14-2-1 in his career. He fought Tyron Woodley to a draw in 2016 but then lost a majority decision to Woodley in 2017. Thompson bounced back late last year to defeat Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision. Thompson has been out of action since that win recovering from injury.
Thompson said that Till doesn’t bring anything special to this fight. “I think I’ve faced better strikers. I think Rory MacDonald is a great striker, I think Jorge Masvidal is an excellent striker. I think [Till is] kind of predictable.” Thompson said to the media, “I think him coming out there, he might have a few tricks up his sleeve, but whenever you’re pushed, whenever you’re pressured you always go back to the way you usually fight. I remember Johny Hendricks coming out there saying he’s got something new, but whenever he was pressured he went back to his old self, and that’s what made it easy.”

Till is unbeaten in his career at 16-0-1 and he does have a big win on his resume, as he defeated Donald Cerrone last October. Till is also coming off a long layoff, as he has not fought since that win.
Till will have the home crowd advantage with this fight taking place in Liverpool. Till said recently to the media that Thompson doesn’t know what is coming. “I’m sure part of him is looking forward to it but really he doesn’t know what’s coming. The chants will be deafening and he won’t be used to that kind of intensity of atmosphere. “Liverpool are playing the night before and the city will be on a high. This show is about me. People are coming along for the ride and supporting Team Till – not only in Liverpool but all over the world. I’m not sure I’d go so far as to say it could mentally destroy Thompson but it will certainly have an effect. It would do with anyone because it’s a new experience.”
The question to answer for this fight is just how good is Till? We know Thompson is a very good fighter who can contend for a title. We don’t know that about Till. He is coming off a win against Cerrone, but that win is really the only one of note. Thompson has fought a lot more tough competition and I expect his experience to be the difference. I will lay the price and take Thompson in this bout.
