Juventus Makes Statement
Andrea Favilli scored twice in the first half as Juventus cruised with surprising ease in a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich to open International Champions Cup play. The 21-year-old Favilli scored his first goal after an error by Bayern Munich goalkeeper Sven Ulreich in which he misplayed the ball out of the back. Favilli, who played last season in Serie B, made the score 2-0 right before half time as he curled a fine precision shot around Ulreich. Although Bayern Munich turned up the heat in the second half of the match they were unable to finish. In fact, Juventus was forced to make six saves compared to just four by Bayern Munich. Taking into account the fact that Bayern Munich is the gold standard of Germany’s top league it was an impressive win, even by the standards of excellence long ago set by Juventus.
Benfica Shoots Out Borussia Dortmund
