Before La Liga gets underway next week we have the Supercopa taking place on Sunday, as Sevilla FC plays Barcelona. This year the Spanish Super Cup will be a single match instead of a two-leg competition and this year the match will be held at a neutral site in Morocco. Barcelona won La Liga last season, while Sevilla finished in seventh place.
Sevilla has had nothing but misery against Barcelona in recent seasons, losing eight of their last nine meetings, with one draw. Barcelona is listed as a solid favorite to win this match on Sunday. Let’s look at the game and soccer predictions.

Sevilla vs. Barcelona TV Coverage:ESPN Deportes
Barcelona is listed as a solid favorite in this contest, with odds of nearly 2-1. The total is high, as it is listed at 3.5. Sevilla will be looking for revenge, as they were thrashed in the Copa del Rey final, losing 5-0. Whether they are capable of getting revenge is the question, as Barcelona looks to be just as good as they were a year ago.
Barcelona has everyone healthy including newcomer Arturo Vidal who comes over from Bayern Munich. Vidal may be held out of this match, but newcomers Arthur and Malcom, from Gremio and AS Roma respectively could play.
Sevilla will probably have a starting lineup of Vaclik, Mercado, Kjaer, Gnagnon, Navas, Banega, Roque Mesa, Escudero, Nolito, Sarabia and Ben Yedder.
Barcelona’s starting lineup will probably be Cillessen, Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Arthur, Rafinha, Messi, Munir and Dembélé.
Player to Watch
There are plenty of players on Barcelona to watch, but you have to think the focus in this match will be on Sevilla’s Aleix Vidal. He signed a four-year deal, moving from Barcelona to Sevilla. The wing-back left Sevilla for Barcelona in 2015. Vidal said he is ready to face his former teammates. "I come having trained from July 9, though it's true that I decided to not force myself physically so there were no problems being here. But I'm in good shape on a physical level and mentally and I really want to start making the most of it.” Vidal said to the media, “I come here with even more excitement than when I arrived from Almeria [in 2014]. They've been three difficult years for me. I'm in the ideal position to come back to be who I've always been."
Barcelona has done really well in the Supercopa, winning the competition 12 times. Sevilla has won the Super Cup just once. It has been all Barcelona when these two teams meet, as Sevilla has not beaten Barcelona since October of 2015. Barcelona is 8-0 with one draw in the last nine meetings against Sevilla.
Sevilla vs. Barcelona Free Picks
There is no question that the value is on Sevilla in this match, but how can you take them against a loaded Barcelona squad? The only question is how motivated will Barcelona be to win this match. There is no reason to think they will be holding out players, and they simply outclass Sevilla all over the field. It was ugly the last time these teams played with Barcelona winning 5-0. I don’t think it will be that bad this time around, but I still can’t make a case for taking Sevilla. I will lay the goal and take Barcelona to win the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday.
Sevilla vs. Barcelona Pick:Barcelona on the three-way line
Sevilla vs. Barcelona Score Prediction:Barcelona 3, Sevilla 1
