Saturday MLS Odds and FREE Picks

By Jonathan Willis This could be a record-breaking year in the MLS in a number of ways. In a more negative light, we could see the Colorado Rapids become the worst team in league history. The Rapids have yet to win a game, and they are on pace to finish with less points than the 14 points the Tampa Bay Mutiny procured in 2001. They only have two draws to show for their efforts despite Kei Kamara being among the league’s best goal scorers.   More

  • Los Angeles FC have a chance to be the best team in MLS history. They are off to a fantastic start this season. It doesn’t matter what statistic you use, LAFC are the best team in the league. They have the best record in the MLS, and they are averaging more points than any other team per game. LAFC have more goals than any other team, and they have allowed less goals per game than any other team too. Their +21 goal differential this season is better than eight of the last 11 Supporters Shield winners in the league, so FC Dallas know that even getting a result on the road would be huge.   More

  • It’s hard to replace a legend. Dome Torrent found that out after taking over for former New York City FC manager Patrick Vieira in the middle of last season. NYCFC struggled to find the same rhythm under their new manager, and it looked like Torrent could be sacked after a slow start to this MLS season. They went 4-9-9 in a 22-game stretch between last season and this season, but they have played much better over the last three weeks. Now, NYCFC are out to beat the only team that has yet to lose at home in the Los Angeles Galaxy.   More

    Saturday MLS Odds and Picks

By Jonathan Willis Deadline Day has come and gone. We didn’t see a lot of movement during the primary transfer window this MLS season, as many teams made minor moves or decided to stand pat. There weren’t the type of deals that shook up the league like in years past, so most teams still have faith in their offseason plans. We’ll see whether or not that faith will be rewarded in the coming weeks.   More

  • The winningest team in MLS history looks like one of the favorites to win the MLS Cup a quarter of the way through the season. The Los Angeles Galaxy have been superb through their first nine games, posting a 7-1-1 record, and they have the best winning percentage in the league. They have more MLS Cups than any other team, and the Galaxy are looking to win their sixth title in 2019. This week, they will take on the New York Red Bulls, and they are looking to move into the top spot in the Western Conference with a win.   More

    Saturday MLS Odds and Picks

By Jonathan Willis Through the first two months of the season, the best soccer in the MLS is being played in Los Angeles. Los Angeles FC and Los Angeles Galaxy are both off to great starts, and the city rivals are a combined 11-0 at home this season. They are the only two teams in the league with more than 20 points, and they are both four points clear of the next closest teams. The rest of the MLS is chasing those two.   More

  • The Seattle Sounders are looking for revenge after suffering their first defeat at the hands of Los Angeles FC last week. These are two of the best teams in the Western Conference, and they might be the two favorites to win the conference at this point of the season. Seattle looked like the best team in the league through March, but LAFC have been consistent through the first two months of the campaign and are thrashing their opponents. Coming into this match, LAFC leads the MLS with a 7-1-1 record, while the Sounders aren’t find behind with a 5-2-1 mark.   More

    Saturday MLS Odds Report

By Jonathan Willis Three of the best teams from last year are in the bottom five of the league. Atlanta United, New York Red Bulls, and the Portland Timbers have been unable to get much going this season, and they are among the worst teams in the league. Supporters of those teams will highlight the reason behind their struggles, most notably Portland has yet to host a match and won’t host a game until June, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are looking up at a lot of teams they shouldn’t be at this point in the season.   More

  • The defending MLS Cup champions are off to a very slow start. Atlanta United look nothing like the team we saw rout most of their opponents on their way to a title last year, but it’s not quite time to panic. The Five Stripes have a new coach in Frank de Boer, and they have missed the playmaking ability of Miguel Almiron in the midfield. A few more losses may lead to the powers that be pushing the eject button when it comes to de Boer, so a win over FC Dallas would be huge for Atlanta United.   More

  • Wayne Rooney has been a smash hit since arriving in the MLS. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was supposed to be the big foreign star in 2018, but Rooney turned the league on its head once he came over to DC United in the middle of the year. He took DC United from the worst team in the Eastern Conference to a playoff participant, and his play has been the main reason why they are leading the Eastern Conference at this point. They aren’t large favorites against New York City FC on Sunday though.   More

  • The MLS will see another brand new soccer specific stadium open its doors this week when the Minnesota United host their first game at Allianz Field. For the past two years, the Loons had called the University of Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium home, and the club will now join the ranks of most teams with scaled down stadiums to create a more lively atmosphere. Minnesota will be taking on New York City FC in their first true home game.   More

  • FC Cincinnati are out to follow in the large footsteps of the two most recent expansion franchises in the MLS. Atlanta United and Los Angeles FC both exploded onto the scene to make the playoffs and host a game in the first season, and the newest team on the block is off to a good start in that endeavor. FC Cincinnati are 2-1-2, but they face a tough test when Sporting Kansas City come to the Queen City this weekend.   More

  • We saw a few surprises last week even though there was only a light dose of MLS action due to the international break. Orlando City pulled off the upset of the young season with a road win over the New York Red Bulls where their much maligned defense pitched a shutout, and expansion franchise FC Cincinnati picked up their first road win. With a full slate of games this week, there should be even more surprises in store.   More

    Saturday MLS Odds Report

By Jonathan Willis If you like soccer, but you think it should have more scoring to make it more interesting, the MLS might be the league for you. The MLS has had a lot of scoring so far this season, especially in the Western Conference, and even with just five games this week there could be plenty of goals. Los Angeles FC are in action, and they are one of those teams that can explode at any time, and the New York Red Bulls could pour them in against an Orlando City defense that continues to be among the worst in the league.   More

  • There are only three MLS games on Sunday, but four of the best teams in the league will be showcased, and that will make for an exciting tripleheader of action. The day begins with the newest iteration of the East Coast/West Coast rivalry when New York City hosts Los Angeles FC in battle of teams that finished third in their conference last season. The sandwich game will see history being made as FC Cincinnati plays their first home game against Western Conference champion Portland Timbers, and the finale will come when defending champion Atlanta United host the Philadelphia Union.   More

    MLS Odds Report for Saturday

By Jonathan Willis It’s been another disappointing performance for the MLS in the CONCACAF Champions League, and the best teams from last year are looking to get the bad taste out of their mouth when they turn their attention back to domestic action. All seven home teams are favored on Saturday, which isn’t too big of a surprise considering the parity in the league, but we will start to see some teams breaking away from the pack.   More

    Saturday MLS Odds Report

By Jonathan Willis The return of MLS brought us plenty of excitement, and a possible changing of the guard. The four teams that ended the season playing in the conference finals all failed to secure a victory, as both Atlanta United and Sporting Kansas City lost road games to playoff teams from 2018, and the Portland Timbers and New York Red Bulls were forced to settle for draws. In Matchday 2, we’ll get a clearer idea if that’s what’s indeed happening.   More

  • FC Cincinnati are looking to follow in the footsteps of last year’s expansion team, Los Angeles FC. LAFC had no expectations coming into the MLS season, yet LA’s second club finished the season as the third-best team in the Western Conference and had one of the top offenses in the league. Cincinnati would love to experience a similar result, but they are facing their second straight tough opponent. After opening their season on the road against the Seattle Sounders, Cincinnati travels to face defending champions Atlanta United on Sunday.   More

  • In 2018, Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles FC both had a chance to win the Western Conference at the end of the year. As fate would have it, these two sides met with first place on the line in the season finale, and Sporting KC emerged victorious even after a Seth Sinovic red card in the 62nd minute. Both teams are considered contenders in the Western Conference again this season, and this could be a preview of the Western Conference Final.   More

  • The 2019 MLS season starts with a bang. This weekend is opening weekend, and the league has pitted some of the best teams in both conferences together to give us some intrigue. In the Eastern Conference, two of the heavyweights are the hottest team over the second half of last season and the defending MLS Cup champions. DC United went from last place to hosting a playoff game, while Atlanta United won the MLS Cup in just their second year of existence. Get your popcorn ready for this one.   More

  • The Portland Timbers are out to claim their second MLS championship in four years with a win over Atlanta United this week. Portland has had an incredible run through the postseason to this point. The Timbers were the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference, but they defeated the No. 4, No. 2,   More

    MLS Conference Finals Preview

By Jonathan Willis The MLS Cup Conference Finals are set to kick off this Sunday with the first leg of the two-legged ties. In the Eastern Conference Finals, Atlanta United will square off against the New York Red Bulls, while the Western Conference Finals will see the Portland Timbers take on Sporting Kansas City.   More

  • If you’re a soccer fan living in the Big Apple, you stand a good chance of losing both teams still alive in the hunt for the MLS Cup this week. The New York Red Bulls and New York City FC both lost the first leg of their Eastern Conference Semifinals tilts 1-0 and now both teams need to win to move on to   More

  • The second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals will take place this week with the lower seeds getting their turn to host a playoff game for a spot in the Western Conference Finals. No team has been eliminated just yet, after close results in the first leg. In the most recent showdown between   More

    MLS Conference Semifinals Preview

By Jonathan Willis We are now down to the final eight teams in the quest to hoist the MLS Cup. The knockout rounds were full of the surprises we have come to expect in the MLS Playoffs. Three of the four higher seeds upset their lower seeded counterparts on the road, with New York City FC being the only team to pick up a win as a favorite. The Portland Timbers weren’t too much of an underdog on the soccer betting odds in their match-up against FC Dallas, but Columbus Crew and Real Salt Lake were not expected to beat DC United and Los Angeles FC.   More
