From the very start the Seattle Sounders FC have been digging out from a terrible start to their season. Seattle is coming off a 2-1 win over FC Dallas in which they held a 55% possession advantage and outshot Dallas 13-7 with four shots on goal compared to just two by Dallas. Chad Marshall and Nicolas Lodeiro got the goals for Seattle.
Prior to that was an impressive 2-1 win at Minnesota United as Will Bruin and Nicolas Lodeiro each scored in stoppage time for a stunning triumph. Seattle dominated with 64% time of possession and had 23 shots including five on goal. Minnesota could manage only 12 shots with three on goal.
Galaxy Stuck in Neutral
For Los Angeles it has been a time in which they have been stuck in the muck with three draws, a loss, and a win in their last five matches.
LA Galaxy Recent Results
In their last game the LA Galaxy blew a 2-0 lead late in their match against Colorado and had to settle for a 2-2 draw after Niki Jackson got the equalizer at the 82-minute mark of play. Edgar Castillo also got Colorado on the board at the 74-minute mark to ignite the rally. Colorado had a 60% time of possession and had ten shots total with four on goal. LA managed 13 shots with five on goal.
Prior to that the Galaxy again suffered from a game ending collapse in a 2-2 draw with Minnesota United. Romario Ibarra Mina got the equalizer for Minnesota at the 84-minute mark. To add insult to injury LA had a 61 percent possession rate and dominated play with 19 shots including six on goal while Minnesota managed just 10 shots with three on net.
Head to Head
This is the first meeting of the season between these two teams after they played to a pair of draws in their last two meetings. LA has two losses and three draws in their last five matches against Seattle.
Forward Will Bruin leads Seattle for six goals in 19 matches while Nicolas Lodeiro also has six goals for the Sounders. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has 15 goals in 19 matches for LA.
