A whole boatload of meaningful soccer is ahead of us this week, as we've got the conference finals in the MLS, Champions League play in the middle of the week and some great action in the domestic leagues over the weekend. It's a great week to be a fan of the beautiful game, and bettors have a lot of opportunities to cash some big time bets.
Montreal Impact vs. Toronto FC, Tuesday, 8 p.m. ET ( ESPN )
These Canadian teams really hate each other. The Montreal/Toronto rivalry is arguably the best in the entire MLS, and that's saying something for as many regional rivalries that have formed over the course of the last several years in North America's premier soccer league.
For the first time, a Canadian team has made it to the precipice of the MLS Cup, and now with both Montreal and TFC advancing, we're guaranteed to have a Canadian team playing for all the marbles.
The Impact and the Reds both went 1-1-1 against each other in the regular season, and you can bet that last year's knockout round match between these two won by the Impact will weigh heavily on the minds of both teams. Keep an eye on Didier Drogba, as he could play a huge role in this one off the bench now that he's returned to the team after a dispute in the middle of the season.
Seattle Sounders vs. Colorado Rapids, Tuesday, 10 p.m. ET ( FOX Sports 1 )
We're not going to highlight the second match of this home-and-home series, but that one plays out on Sunday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.
The first leg though, is going to be crucial. CenturyLink Field has turned into a fortress once again for the Sounders. Don't believe us? Just ask FC Dallas what it thought after its 3-0 loss in Seattle in the conference semifinals.
Life just got a lot harder on Colorado as well. Tim Howard got hurt playing for the USMNT against Mexico and is finished for the season. That turns the goal back over to the much-maligned Zac MacMath, a man who is still very young and wasn't in great form at the start of the season.
AS Monaco vs. Tottenham, Tuesday, 2:45 p.m. ET ( FOX Sports 1 )
Mauricio Pochettino knows that he has to have three points on the road on French soil in the worst way, but that mission is going to be as tricky as it gets for Tottenham this year. The Spurs almost seem resigned to the fact that they're dropping into the Europa League, but this is their last shot. They've already been beaten twice in the UCL, and it isn't often that a team advances with two losses. The Spurs can overturn that with a win against Lyon, but a loss or even a draw will send them out of the tourney.
Arsenal vs. PSG, Wednesday, 2:45 p.m. ET ( FOX Sports 1 )
The pressure isn't quite as high on Arsenal as it is on its crosstown rivals in London, as at least the Gunners know they're going to be in the last 16 of the Champions League. But there's a big difference between winning Group A and coming in second to PSG. Winning the group avoids playing against the top teams in the other groups in the Round of 16, taking Barcelona, likely Bayern Munich and likely Real Madrid out of the equation. Second place opens up all those possibilities and leaves the likelihood very high of a short stay in the new year in this tournament.
Arsenal and PSG are both on 10 points through two matches, and if the Gunners win this match, they'll be a lock to win the group. A draw isn't the end of the world either, as they can still win the group with a win on the last match day of the group stage in December, but there's no doubt that Arsene Wenger wants this decided as soon as possible to take the pressure off of his club.
