The first MLS Cup finalist will be determined on Tuesday night when Los Angeles FC hosts the Seattle Sounders in the Western Conference Finals. LAFC are heavy favorites to advance to their first MLS Cup Final per the soccer betting odds, while the Sounders are out to get back to the MLS Cup Final for the third time in four seasons. These teams squared off in back-to-back weeks in April, and while Seattle played LAFC to a 1-1 in the Emerald City, the Western Conference champions hammered the Sounders 4-1 in Banc of California Stadium.

How They Got Here
LAFC finished the regular season as the best team in league history. They won the Supporters’ Shield after posting 74 points in 34 games, and their goal differential of +48 was an MLS record too. Carlos Vela won the Golden Boot and is a shoo-in to win the MLS MVP award after breaking the single season scoring record, and LAFC finally beat a familiar foe to make it to the Western Conference Finals.
The Los Angeles Galaxy had not lost a match to LAFC until last Thursday. LAFC were unable to pick up a win in any of their three matches in 2018, and they were stunned by the Galaxy on the road and played to a 3-3 draw with them at home earlier this season. They finally came through in El Trafico when it mattered most though, with Vela and Adama Diomande each netting a brace in a 5-3 win for LAFC.
Seattle was the second-best team in the Western Conference during the regular season. The Sounders locked up the No. 2 seed on Decision Day by beating Minnesota at home, and they won their first-round game against FC Dallas after Jordan Morris netted his third goal in extra time in a 4-3 win.
They didn’t score until midway through the second half against Real Salt Lake last week, but Gustav Svensson and Nicolas Lodeiro both eventually netted to give the Sounders a 2-0 win. Seattle constantly pressured RSL, taking 20 shots and putting 10 attempts on frame in the victory.
Key Absences
Midfielder Javi Perez, forward Josh Perez, and defender Danilo Silva are all out for the season for LAFC. Midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye is questionable with a strained hamstring, and forward Rodolfo Zelaya is questionable with a foot injury.
Forward Will Bruin is a long-term injury for Seattle, and he is the only Sounders player on the injury report.
Los Angeles FC Player to Watch
Vela has been amazing this MLS season. He has teamed up with Diomande and Diego Rossi to create the most lethal three-man attack the MLS has seen, and he is one of the best set-up men in the league. With Kaye not at 100 percent, Vela will likely be more be asked to be more of a distributor against Seattle this Tuesday.
Seattle Sounders Player to Watch
Lodeiro is the key to the Sounders attack. The Uruguayan midfielder is known for his dazzling passes and his ability to put his teammates in excellent position, and he knows that Seattle must score at least two goals to feel optimistic about their chances of winning.
The Sounders will put up a valiant effort, but LAFC are too strong. The hosts will win this match by finding the back of the net multiple times to make it to their first MLS Cup Final ever.
MLS Western Conference Finals Prediction: Los Angeles FC 3, Seattle Sounders 1
