The Western Conference Semifinals will have plenty of fireworks this week. The Seattle Sounders will take on Real Salt Lake on Wednesday, October 23, at 10 p.m. ET on FS1, but the match everyone is hyped for will be the following night. El Trafico will determine one of the spots in the Western Conference Finals as Los Angeles FC host the Los Angeles Galaxy at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. An LAFC defeat after the best regular season in MLS history would be a bitter pill to swallow but losing to your city rival would feel even worse.

- MLS Cup Western Conference Semifinals Betting Odds
- Seattle Sounders -0.5 and -1 vs. Real Salt Lake, O/U 2.5 and 3
Seattle was the last Western Conference team to win the MLS Cup back in 2016, and the Sounders have an incredible track record. They have made it to the Western Conference Semifinals in each of their 11 seasons in the league, but their performance at this stage has not been good. You may want to take a flier on Real Salt Lake at these MLS betting odds, since the Sounders were eliminated at this stage of the MLS Cup Playoffs in six of their previous 10 postseason appearances.
Real Salt Lake have not made it past the conference semifinals since 2013 when they advanced to the MLS Cup Final. Real stunned LAFC in the first round before losing to Sporting Kansas City in the 2018 Western Conference Semifinals, but they are more optimistic about their chances this season after a 2-1 win over the Portland Timbers this weekend thanks to an 87th minute goal from Jefferson Savarino.
The Sounders knocked off RSL 1-0 in the Emerald City back in early April, but RSL cruised to a 3-0 win over Seattle in Salt Lake City in mid-August. The visitors won’t have two midfielders available for this match though as both Jordan Allen and Nick Besler have been ruled out, while Seattle’s Will Bruin is a long-term injury.
It’s not easy to win in Seattle, as the Sounders boast one of the best home-field advantages in the MLS. The Sounders played a thriller against FC Dallas on Saturday but advanced thanks to a Jordan Morris hat trick, and I believe Seattle’s attack of Morris, Raul Ruidiaz, and Nicholas Lodeiro will be too much for the visitors.
Los Angeles FC -1 and -1.5 vs. Los Angeles Galaxy, O/U 3.5
Network executives must be loving life right now. The most intense rivalry in the game today will be the last match of the conference semifinals as the best single-season team in MLS history square off against the most prestigious club in the league’s history.
LAFC have been fantastic this season. They ran roughshod over the rest of the league in 2019, and although they weren’t great down the stretch, they cruised to the Supporters’ Shield. Carlos Vela won the Golden Boot and broke Josef Martinez’ single-season scoring record with 34 goals, and LAFC finished the campaign with an absurd goal differential of +48.
This club has yet to beat the Los Angeles Galaxy in its short history though. The Galaxy beat LAFC 3-2 in mid-July, and these teams played to a 3-3 draw a month later. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has risen to the occasion when it has mattered most, tallying five of the Galaxy’s six goals in those two matches.
Ibra shines when the spotlight is on him, and that makes both the underdog and the over appealing bets in this match. Consider betting on the Los Angeles Galaxy on the three-way line too.
