Liverpool and Chelsea both waived goodbye to competing in the Premier League long ago. Manchester City were simply too good and ran away with the league, but each club is still in the running for silverware this season.
Chelsea are gunning to win the FA Cup. The Blues will face Manchester United in the FA Cup Final in two weeks and a win would give Antonio Conte something to smile about on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool’s Champions League run has meant its attention has turned away from the Premier League. The Reds were in second place just a few weeks ago, but they have drifted into third and can still be caught by Chelsea after some middling performances.

Jurgen Klopp’s side has now drawn three of their last four matches, and the last two draws were very disappointing considering their opponents. Liverpool was facing West Brom and Stoke City, two teams destined for relegation, but they were unable to pick up the win either time.
Things have gone much better for Chelsea. The Blues have known that they need to win out in order to have a chance to finish in the top four, and they have been able to do just that. Chelsea has picked up three straight road wins and a victory over Liverpool would give this club a serious chance of qualifying for the Champions League next year.
Back in November, these two sides met at Anfield. It was a defensive battle with neither side mustering too many opportunities. Mo Salah put Liverpool ahead 1-0 midway through the second half after some nice 1-2 passing with Roberto Firmino. That looked like it would be the decisive goal for a while, but then Chelsea caught a bit of a break.
Willian was able to level the match at one with a lucky goal. He was attempting a cross to his teammate on the back post, but instead got enough air on the ball to float it over the goalkeeper. The match ended at 1-1 and salvaged a point for Chelsea.
Both sides have players declared out for the season on the injury report. Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater and Ethan Ampadu will not play again this year, and Liverpool’s Joel Matip and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will be gone for the last few games too.
In other injury news, Chelsea will be without David Luiz while Liverpool will not have Adam Lallana and Emre Can. None of the three have been declared out for the season though, allowing for a potential return next week.
For this match, Liverpool looks set to get Joe Gomez back. The club has been without him for more than a month and are eager to instill him back in the starting eleven.

Even though this match is important to Liverpool, it means the world to Chelsea. Liverpool would still control its destiny even with a loss, while Chelsea must win out to have any hope of making it back to the Champions League next year. The visitors will likely be looking more towards rest upon their return to England, and that will lead to a Chelsea victory.
English Premier League Prediction: Chelsea 3, Liverpool 1
