Manchester City made history against Watford last week. The Citizens scored five goals inside of 18 minutes against the Hornets, scoring five goals faster than any other team in the modern Premier League era. However, they are still five points behind Liverpool in their bid for a third straight league title, so they know they need to keep winning and hope the Reds drop points in order to catch up. Oddsmakers are believers as Manchester City are still the favorites to win the league per the Premier League betting odds, and they are sizable road favorites against Everton this Saturday.

Everton are not off to a great start this Premier League season. Some had pegged the Toffees as the best team outside the Big Six ahead of the year, but that has not come to fruition. Their only two wins this year have come against bottom of the table Watford and Wolverhampton. Those clubs are the only two winless teams in the Premier League, and now Everton’s schedule gets much tougher. The Toffees have yet to play a Big Six opponent, so they could drop even further behind other clubs.
Newly promoted sides have given Everton fits. Aston Villa knocked off Everton 2-0 in late August, and Sheffield United upset Everton 2-0 in Goodison Park last week despite being a sizable underdog per the soccer betting odds. Everton had the ball for 70 percent of the match, but they could only muster three shots on net, while Sheffield United scored on both of their shot attempts.
The Citizens have either blown opponents out or dropped points this season. All six of Manchester City’s wins have been by two or more goals (with five of those victories coming by three or more goals), but they suffered a controversial draw to Tottenham and were shocked by Norwich City at Carrow Road.
Manchester City have won every game where they have scored three or more goals, and they ended up crushing Watford 8-0 last week. They have a goal differential of +18 already this year, and they are on pace to sail over 100 goals this season.
The hosts won’t have two players for this soccer match. Andre Gomes has been declared out due to a rib injury, while Jean-Philippe Gbamin is sidelined due to a thigh injury.
Aymeric Laporte and Leroy Sane are both expected to be out until 2020 for Manchester City, leaving the club without two talented players. Laporte has been sorely missed in the back line, and John Stones’ thigh injury further stretches the depth in defense.
Manchester City Player to Watch
Sergio Aguero is the current leader in the race to win the Golden Boot. Aguero has notched eight goals this season, and he is in fine form. He has the most talented attack in England around him, so he must be considered the favorite per the Golden Boot betting odds at this point.
Everton FC Player to Watch
Richarlison had a nice debut season for Everton last year, notching 13 goals in 35 league appearances. However, the Toffees are hoping for more this campaign. He has just two goals and one assist through six matches, and Everton is expecting the Brazilian to do more in his second year.
The Toffees are unlikely to hold Manchester City at bay, but they could create some problems for a back line that has been shaky. I think the over is the best bet in a City win.
English Premier League Prediction: Manchester City 3, Everton FC 1
