Manchester City was absolutely stunned last Saturday when it was defeated soundly at home by Leicester City. Now, the Citizens have six points to make up on the most shocking team in English soccer, and matches like this one at home against Tottenham feel like must-win propositions.

Of course, it should be noted that the Spurs are only five points back of the Foxes and are in second place in the EPL. Mauricio Pochettino would be happy with a Top 3 finish to ensure safety into the Champions League for next year, but with both City and Arsenal right there as well and Manchester United starting to get its legs back underneath it, it's still going to be a fight to avoid either the Europa League or no European competition for next year.

The Spurs, in their own right, have been on fire, winners of six in a row across all competitions, including going on the road and knocking Leicester City out of the FA Cup a few weeks back.

We haven't quite seen the same degree of dominance from Harry Kane this year at the top of the pitch, though the Tottenham man should still be getting oodles of credit for logging 15 goals in 25 matches at the age of 22 for one of the top teams in England. Dele Alli has put together some stunning strikes out of the midfield in recent weeks, and his creativity is what's really giving this team its boost, especially with as well as Hugo Lloris has played in the pipes here in the EPL this term.

Tottenham has allowed just 19 goals in 25 matches, including 10 in 12 away fixtures, both easily the best marks in the league.

The problems if you're a Manchester City supporter are now numerous. Forget about the fact that Leicester just embarrassed you on your home pitch. The real issue here is at the back. Without the injured Vincent Kompany, City looks slow in central defense, and it had no answers for the pace of Jamie Vardy and company last weekend. The size from Robert Huth coming out of the back was too much to handle as well, and he finished both a corner and a free kick from the edge of the area on that day to stun the Ethiad.

Kompany hoped to get back in the lineup against Leicester, but it wasn't to be. It's unknown whether he'll get back in the fold for this one or not, but we know the news isn't good for Jesus Navas, Eliaquim Mangala, Kevin De Bruyne, Samir Nasri and Wilfried Bony, all of which are still out for at least another week or two, if not longer in some cases.

The news though, isn't all bad for Manchester City. The Citizens still have the most riches in the Premier League, and a lineup featuring Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Fernandinho up front should still be good enough to drop in two or three goals against virtually anyone in the Premier League. City, to its credit, did have 22 shots against Leicester, though only four hit the target, and it took 87 minutes to get one in the back of the net.

With Manuel Pellegrini certainly headed out the door at the end of the summer, it clearly looks like Manchester City is set to swoon just a bit, and that swan could take an even greater dive on Sunday if the Sky Blues have a repeat performance of their disaster at White Hart Lane in September. The Spurs erased a 1-0 deficit on halftime thanks to Eric Dier, and they ran roughshod from there, scoring three times in the second half to take a 4-1 victory, their most notable triumph of the season.

City is the -140 favorite on the moneyline on this match though, and anything less than three points would be viewed as a disappointment of epic proportions for one of the richest teams in the world.
