Matchday 2 Premier League Betting Odds Report

After one week of action, the two Manchester clubs are atop the Premier League table. Manchester City are expected to be there after winning two straight Premier League titles in two of the best seasons we’ve seen from any club, but Manchester United’s 4-0 win over Chelsea in the opener was a surprise. The Red Devils were favored, yet only in their wildest dreams would they have believed they would win by such a huge margin. Each side will face a challenge in staying unbeaten this week.

  • Southampton FC +1 and +1.5 vs. Liverpool FC, O/U 3

Much has been made of the Southampton-Liverpool connection, and now the Saints are benefitting in non-financial ways from the relationship between the two clubs. Danny Ings was the Saints’ best weapon last season, and Southampton acquired him on a permanent basis this summer. He will no doubt want to prove Liverpool wrong in selling him, while Virgil Van Dijk and Sadio Mane are out to beat their former Southampton teammates.

Soccer Sports Betting

Manchester City -1.5 vs. Tottenham Hotspur, O/U 3 and 3.5

When Spurs have their full complement of options available, they will stand a much better chance of earning a result against Manchester City, but they won’t have either Son Heung-min or Dele Alli for this match. That will put the onus on Harry Kane and Lucas Moura, the latter of which City fans still have nightmares about.

Arsenal FC -1.5 vs. Burnley FC, O/U 3

The Gunners were somewhat sloppy in their first match of the season, but they got the win over Newcastle. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continued to show why he is a very underrated forward with Arsenal’s lone goal, and he should have a big impact once again in this match.

Everton FC -0.5 and -1 vs. Watford FC, O/U 2.5 and 3

Without Morgan Schneiderlin, Everton may have a hard time getting a result in their Goodison Park opener. A lot has been expected of the Toffees this season, but they were continually frustrated in their first game by Crystal Palace, and the Hornets are sure to emulate Palace.

Brighton and Hove Albion PK -128 vs. West Ham United, O/U 2.5

This is a great chance to bet on a road team. West Ham must bounce back after a blowout loss to Manchester City last week, otherwise they face the prospect of reliving last year’s rough start to the campaign. The Hammers have a lot of talent, and they should have Brighton on the back foot throughout the match.

Aston Villa PK and -0.5 vs. AFC Bournemouth, O/U 2.5

The Cherries are playing their second straight newly promoted side, and they are hoping for a better result after blowing a late lead against Sheffield United. Bournemouth were largely frustrated by the Blades, and their back line did not look great in giving up the game-tying goal. The over looks like a very strong play in this Soccer match.

Norwich City PK and -0.5 vs. Newcastle United, O/U 2.5

Teemu Pukki has already made his mark on the Premier League. He proved Norwich geniuses after coming over on a free transfer and leading the Championship in goals, and the Canaries are unafraid to play their preferred open, attacking style after their promotion. That will give him a lot of chances against Newcastle.

  • August 18
  • Chelsea FC -0.5 and -1 vs. Leicester City, O/U 2.5

A loss to Leicester City after a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester United would be an awful start for Frank Lampard, but unlike other Chelsea managers in the past, the club legend can survive a rocky beginning. Chelsea are still hampered by transfer restrictions, and Leicester City stand to be dangerous as the Blues have a midweek match against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Sheffield United PK -126 vs. Crystal Palace, O/U 2

The Blades are going to hang back and try to keep every game low scoring this season, and that will lead to a number of one-goal games. Oddsmakers have already accounted for this by making the over/under here 2 flat in the game with the lowest total this week.

  • August 19
  • Wolverhampton Wanderers PK +0.5 vs. Manchester United, O/U 2 and 2.5

Given Wolves excellent results against Big Six clubs last campaign, this line is a bit of a surprise. Wolverhampton are excellent at counterattacking, and Manchester United are susceptible to this style. Look for Wolves to at least grab a result.
