Norwich City have been one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League this season, even though the Canaries are currently in the relegation zone. They have brought their up-tempo style and attacking mindset from the Championship to the Premier League, and there has been an average of four goals scored in Norwich games thus far in 2019. That’s much better than you typically see from recently promoted sides who typically turtle and play for low-scoring games. Hopefully, they keep that mindset going into this week’s game against Manchester City, as it could lead to the highest scoring game of the season.

Manchester City remain in second place in the standings due to a disappointing home draw against Tottenham Hotspur last month, but the Citizens have otherwise routed their opponents. They crushed West Ham 5-0 in their opener, and they knocked off Bournemouth 3-1 in their other road tilt to date this campaign. Prior to last week’s international break, City cruised to a 4-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion, opening the scoring with a Kevin De Bruyne goal in the second minute.
Sergio Aguero has been in fine form to start the Premier League season. Aguero has scored in each of City’s games thus far this year, notching a goal in his first two outings and a brace in his last two. He is currently atop the Premier League in goals with six on the season, one ahead of teammate Raheem Sterling and Norwich’s Teemu Pukki.
Norwich have not had an easy start in their return to the Premier League, squaring off against three Big Six clubs in their first five matches. They were hammered by Liverpool in the opener, but they responded with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United in their second match. The Canaries lost a 3-2 thriller at Carrow Road to Chelsea three weeks ago, and they failed to score in their last Premier League match, a 2-0 loss to West Ham.
Leroy Sane suffered a serious knee injury in preseason and will be out for most, if not all, of 2019. Aymeric Laporte went down with a knee injury too in the Citizens’ win over Brighton, and he will be out for a significant amount of time after undergoing surgery during the break.
Manchester City’s other injuries aren’t nearly as serious. Benjamin Mendy is doubtful for this game with a knee injury, while John Stones, Fernandinho, and Ilkay Gundogan are probable.
Onel Hernandez and Timm Klose are both long-term absences for Norwich City due to significant knee injuries, and Tom Trybull is out for another month with an ankle ligament injury. Christoph Zimmermann is doubtful, but Grant Hanley is likely to return to the pitch.
Manchester City Player to Watch
Kevin De Bruyne is one of the key pieces to Manchester City’s success. The Belgian playmaker currently leads the EPL with five assists on the year, and his ability to link up with Aguero, Sterling, and David Silva helps drive this team to incredible domestic success. He should pick apart Norwich if the Canaries play their typical style.
Norwich City Player to Watch
Pukki is the player you must continually highlight for Norwich. He has tallied five of their six goals on the season, and last year’s Championship Golden Boot winner is the centerpiece of the attack.
Strap yourself in, because this is going to be fun. There will be plenty of goals as Norwich puts on a show in front of their home fans, but the Canaries have little chance of getting a result against mighty Manchester City.
English Premier League Prediction: Manchester City 4, Norwich City 2
