Leicester City vs. Manchester United TV Coverage:NBCSN
Leicester City has had no success against Manchester United at Old Trafford, winning once in 45 years and that win was about 20 years ago. Manager Claude Puel has a team that could be capable of ending the drought. Leicester has an exciting scorer in Kelechi Iheanacho, who scored four goals in the last three preseason friendlies. Leicester also has a solid playmaker in James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira looks like a good addition to the lineup. The concern for Leicester is the defense, as Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy may not play and Jonny Evans is questionable.
There is no question that if Leicester is to win this season they will need Iheanacho to have a great year. Ndidi said that he is not surprised at the youngster’s success. “It was good and in the previous games also it was good he scored in these games for the confidence. I hope he can keep confidence for the next games, not just him but all of the players.”
Premier League 2018-2019 Predictions
Leicester will be facing a United team that will not be at full strength. Manager Jose Mourinho said a number of players will miss Friday’s opener. Paul Pogba hasn’t even been with the team yet, as he was on an extended break following the World Cup. Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young are all still recovering from playing for Belgium and England and probably won’t play on Friday. Eric Bailly and Ander Herrera are questionable with injuries and Antonio Valencia has a calf problem. Nemanja Matic and Sergio Romero are both out with injuries.
It should be noted that United is extremely deep and talented, so they do have plenty of answers. They could end up starting De Gea; Darmian, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw; Fred, Pereira, McTominay; Mata, Rashford and Sanchez.
The referee for Friday’s game is Andre Marriner and that is not good news for Leicester. He was the referee for three Leicester games last season and Leicester lost all three. He was the ref for five United games, four of which ended in United wins. Marriner has been the ref for a total of 14 games over the years and Leicester has just four wins, five losses and five draws.
Leicester City vs. Manchester United Free Picks
I am really surprised at the line on this game, as United is listed as a big home favorite, even with a number of their players expected to miss this game. Leicester is almost a 6-1 underdog on the three-way line. I don’t know if Leicester is good enough to beat United at Old Trafford, but this could be their best chance and at 6-1 they are worth a shot. I also think the total is worth a strong look, as Leicester isn’t playing much defense, so this could be a high scoring match that goes over the total of 2.5.
