West Ham United vs Crystal Palace Premier League Picks

Outside of the top two, the Premier League appears to be wide open this season. Leicester City and Arsenal are currently third and fourth in the table, and West Ham United are right behind those two clubs in fifth place. The Hammers have looked sharp this season, with their only loss being a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Manchester City in the season opener. West Ham will be out to keep their six-game results streak going with at least a draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Recent Form

It’s been a nice start to the season for Crystal Palace too. Palace are 3-2-2 with seven games, and they are ahead of Manchester United in the table. The Glaziers have played excellent defense, conceding just seven goals, and that has allowed them to flourish despite notching just six goals on the year.

Soccer Sports Betting

Crystal Palace began the year with middling performances in their first two soccer matches, but they have roared back over the last six weeks. The Glaziers began their run with a 2-1 win over Manchester United in Old Trafford, and they followed that up with a victory over Crystal Palace. Tottenham Hotspur beat them 4-0 in their place three weeks ago, and Palace have responded with a draw against Wolves and a win over Norwich City the last two weeks. In an interesting twist, Palace have yet to see a red card, while three opponents have had players sent off in their seven league matches this year.

West Ham are in fine form. The Hammers have played well since their loss to the defending champions, and they have netted 12 points from their last six games. They have been great on the road, securing draws against Brighton, Aston Villa, and Bournemouth, and they picked up a 3-1 road win over Watford too. At home, the performances have been better with West Ham knocking off Manchester United and Norwich City by score lines of 2-0.

Notable Absences

Unfortunately for the hosts, West Ham are set to miss arguably their best player for a significant amount of time. Lukasz Fabianski came off after injuring his thigh against Bournemouth last week, and early reports indicate that he suffered a tear in the muscle and may miss two months or more. Roberto Jimenez would get the start in his absence, and that’s a significant downgrade for the Hammers. Elsewhere, Michail Antonio and Winston Reid will miss the match due to injuries.

The visitors have just one player on their injury list. Mamadou Sakho picked up a knock, and he is listed as questionable.

Crystal Palace Player to Watch

When will we see more out of Wilfried Zaha? Zaha was widely rumored to leave Palace over the summer, but the club was reluctant to sell its best player. Palace were offered upwards of $75 million for his services, yet they remained insistent that Zaha was theirs for the first part of this year at least.

Palace might want to rethink that decision during the winter signing period. Zaha has yet to score a goal this year, and he has notched just one assist. Those are not the kind of numbers Palace were hoping to see this campaign.

West Ham United Player to Watch

The Hammers spent a club record sum to acquire Sebastian Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt this offseason, and that acquisition has paid off handsomely. Haller has scored three goals and tacked on one assist this year, and he has paired up well with Andriy Yarmolenko.

Losing Fabianski is huge. Fabianski might be the best goalkeeper not attached to a Big Six club in the Premier League, and his absence will be felt.
