AS Roma have finished in the top three in Serie A for five straight seasons. With those finishes, they have continually earned spots in the Champions League, allowing them to refill their coffers and keeping them competitive among Europe’s elite. They may find themselves in a trying situation this offseason if they can’t get back to the continent’s most prestigious tournament.
Currently, Roma are tied with AC Milan for fifth place in the Serie A table. Roma are three points behind fourth place Atalanta and four points behind third place Inter Milan with three games left to go, and they need to win their final three matches and cross their fingers to get that all-important spot in the top four. They will face a difficult test when they host Juventus this weekend.

This Juventus team was expected to win the Champions League or at the very least get to the final, but instead this has been their most disappointing team of the decade. They have cruised to an eighth straight Serie A title, yet that will be the only trophy they win this season. Juventus crashed out of the Champions League in the quarterfinals, and they won’t even win a domestic double after Atalanta shocked them in the Coppa Italia. Juventus have not had anything to play for over the last few weeks, and we have seen them go just 1-2-1 in that stretch.
A loss to SPAL right before the international break may end up proving exceptionally costly for Roma. That put them a good bit behind the other top teams in Serie A, and they have been trying to make up ground since that point. Roma have earned a result in six straight matches coming into this weekend, but they are kicking themselves after blowing a potential win against Genoa last week. Stephan El Shaarawy put Roma up late, but Cristian Romero equalized for Genoa in extra time to force a draw.
Sami Khedira will be out for the remainder of the season, and Juventus will be without Federico Bernardeschi for this match too after a suspension for yellow card accumulation. Mario Mandzukic, Mehdi Benatia, Matia Perin, and Alex Sandro are all questionable, while Paulo Dybala is probable.
Davide Stanton, Diego Perotti, and Daniele De Rossi are all going to be on the sidelines for Roma because of injury. William Bianda is questionable, and Lorenzo Valeau is probable to be available.
AS Roma Player to Watch
It’s looking increasingly likely that Edin Dzeko will be moving on from Roma after four years with the club this offseason. Dzeko has averaged a goal nearly every other game during his time there, and that’s impressive given how defensive-minded Italian soccer plays. This has not been a good campaign for him, as he has just eight goals on the year, but he can still create magic like he did against Barcelona in the Champions League last year.
Juventus Player to Watch
His team doesn’t have anything to play for, but Cristiano Ronaldo has a goal in mind. Ronaldo loves scoring goals, and he would love to grab a Golden Boot in his first year in Serie A. He is currently four goals behind the leader with three games to play, but he has been swarming in recent weeks with two goals in Juventus’ last two matches.
AS Roma vs. Juventus Free Picks
Juventus will largely go through the motions, but they will earn a result because of Roma’s shaky back line. Roma have allowed 47 goals this season in league play, and that porousness will prove costly against Ronaldo.
AS Roma vs. Juventus Prediction: AS Roma 2, Juventus 2
