It’s been five years since AC Milan last played in the Champions League, and one of the blue bloods of the Serie A Italian soccer is looking to make it back to Europe’s top competition. AC Milan are currently in fourth place and in position to make it back to the Champions League, but there are two teams right behind them. Milan are sitting on 55 points, and that has them one point ahead of Roma and two points up on Atalanta. There are just six games left in the season, so Milan must not falter against 14th place Parma on Saturday.

Parma are more than likely safe in terms of avoiding relegation, but the Crusaders have not been great at home this year. They are just 4-5-7 at home, which is the third-worst home record in Serie A, and their 13 goals in 16 home matches are tied for the fewest in the league. Parma have not been playing well over the last month, and this club has not recorded a win in five straight matches entering this weekend’s games.
A Franck Kessie penalty kick in the 79th minute was huge for AC Milan last week. Milan was hosting a team chasing them in Lazio, and the game had been relatively even before that goal. That penalty was the game’s lone goal, and the 1-0 AC Milan win broke a four match winless streak for the club. When these teams squared off at the San Siro in early December, it looked like Parma might snag at least a point. The first half ended without a goal, and then Roberto Inglese knocked in a header off of a corner kick to put Parma up 1-0 shortly after halftime. A Patrick Curtone goal set up by a deflection leveled the match at one a short time later though, and a Kessie penalty awarded after a VAR stoppage gave Milan a 2-1 win.
Alberto Grassi was lost for the season on the side of Parma after tearing his ACL in early December. Inglese, Bruno Alves, Jonathan Biabiany, and Luca Siligardi are all questionable to play on Saturday for the hosts, but they will have Francisco Sierralta healthy and available. Lucas Paqueta and Giacomo Bonaventura both suffered season-ending injuries a few months ago for the side of AC Milan. Gianluigi Donnarumma, Suso, Alessio Romagnoli, and Davide Calabria are all considered questionable.
Parma Player to Watch
Gervinho has been a bit of journeyman over his career. He has not lived up to the high expectations that led to Arsenal acquiring him in 2011, and he has not stayed at any club for longer than three years. However, he has found a home at Parma. Gervinho leads the team with 10 goals, and he has provided a goal scorer’s touch to a team in need of one.

Purchasing Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa at the transfer deadline was huge for AC Milan. Piatek had set Serie A on the fire over the first half of the season, and he is tied for the league lead in goals with 21. The young Polish forward has netted eight goals in 12 matches with his new club.

AC Milan have been playing solid defense lately, and I believe they will hold Parma scoreless in a low scoring win.
