La Liga Soccer Matchday 3 Betting Odds Report

Through the first two weeks of the La Liga campaign, it’s not Real Madrid or Barcelona at the top of the table. Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are instead tied atop the standings with six points through two matches, and they are looking to shrug off their reputation as outside contenders in Spain. Both clubs spent heavily this offseason, and neither club has allowed a goal yet.

FC Sevilla -1 vs. RC Celta de Vigo, O/U 3

Sevilla are looking to at least finish in the top four after a few soccer seasons without Champions League money. They splurged to shore up their back line after two straight seasons of subpar play in the back by their standards, and that has paid off in a big way. The club went on the road to beat Espanyol 2-0 and Granada 1-0 to kick off the season. Sevilla now get to return home and can head into the first international break in first place.

Athletic Bilbao -0.5 vs. Real Sociedad, O/U 2 and 2.5

It’s never easy to go into Bilbao and get a win. The club lost just two matches at home last season, but Real Sociedad could pick up a result. They turned the corner over the latter half of the 2018-19 campaign to finish strong, and this team could pick up a draw due to their stolid back line.

August 31

CA Osasuna +1.5 and +2 vs. FC Barcelona, O/U 2.5 and 3

The Blaugrana needed 130 minutes to score, but the seal has finally been broken. They pummeled Real Betis 5-2 last week and new acquisition Antoine Griezmann notched a brace in the victory. Barca ran riot once they finally were able to secure a goal, and that is likely to continue against lowly Osasuna this week.

Real Betis Balompie -0.5 vs. CD Leganes, O/U 2

Betis fans are known for their gregarious nature, but they have to be a little concerned after losing their first two matches. They are at the bottom of the table, and they will face another winless club when Leganes comes to Andalusia.

CF Getafe -0.5 vs. Deportivo Alaves Sad, O/U 2

Getafe nearly turned the conventional order on its head last season by challenging with Valencia for the final Champions League spot until the last week of the season last year. They ended up falling short, and they aren’t off to a great start this year. Alaves continue to be a tough club, and they might be able to get three straight results to start the campaign.

UD Levante -0.5 vs. Real Valladolid, O/U 2.5

It’s been a great start to the season for Valladolid. They were able to steal a point from Real Madrid in the Bernabeu, and they snagged a road win over Real Betis after being up a man for almost the entire match. Valladolid are playing with house money at this point.

September 1

Atletico Madrid -1 and -1.5 vs. SD Eibar, O/U 2

Only Atletico Madrid would have Asian Handicap odds like this. Atletico are playing their trademark style and succeeding once more with both of their wins coming by a score of 1-0, and they will look to keep that up against Eibar. However, Eibar snagged a result in the Metropolitano last campaign, so they have some confidence.

RCD Espanyol Barcelona -0.5 vs. Granada CF, O/U 2 and 2.5

Goals will be at a premium when Espanyol and Granada meet. Espanyol have yet to score a goal this season and have an excellent set of defenders, and Granada were shut out last week.

CF Valencia -1 and -1.5 vs. RCD Mallorca, O/U 2.5 and 3

It hasn’t been a great start to the campaign for Valencia. The Bats had to grit their teeth and settle for a draw against Mallorca, and they were stunned by Celta Vigo last week. Mallorca should be a tonic for their ills, but if they don’t get the win here it’s time to push the panic button.

Villareal CF +0.5 and +1 vs. Real Madrid, O/U 3 and 3.5

The Yellow Submarine have had a combined 11 goals in their matches so far, so this game has the highest total of any in the third week of the season. Villarreal know it will be an uphill battle to get a result in this one though.
