When the World Cup final tournament started not many fans or analysts were thinking that Croatia was a serious top tier contender. But when the Blazers destroyed Argentina in their second match of the group stage they served notice that they were a potential dark horse that emerged as a serious contender to win it all.
What was also displayed that day was that Luka Modric is arguably the best midfielder on the globe. And an impact player that can take over a match that has the great Lionel Messi on the other side. For Denmark qualification was a dull and listless period that inspired nobody. The Danes did the bare minimum to make the Round of 16. And showed why nobody thinks they have what it takes to go far in the knockout phase. Denmark is a decided underdog in their match against Croatia.

Croatia vs. Denmark 2018 FIFA World Cup TV Coverage: FOX
Croatia has climbed all the way up to a 12/1 choice to win the World Cup. Denmark is a 66/1 long shot to win the championship.
Rocking the Blazers
It did not take long for Croatia to establish its bona fides in Group D of the World Cup. In their opener they controlled an improved Nigeria team 2-0 as Modric scored and did an outstanding job patrolling the midfield. But it was Croatia’s second group match that caught the attention of the entire world. Marquee man Lionel Messi and the famed team from Argentina served as their opponent. And it was no contest. Croatia scored a dominant 3-0 win in which Modric scored another goal and controlled the play for much of the day. Modric helped render the great Messi helpless in the process. And it was from that point forward that Croatia was taken seriously as a world class team. The Blazers finished off Iceland 2-1 in their third group match as Kivan Perisic scored the game winner near game’s end. As a result Croatia completed a perfect Group D championship with three wins in three matches
Denmark was far less inspiring in their qualification effort. The Red and White had a tough opening match against Peru. It turned out to be their most impressive effort. Denmark scored a 1-0 win on a goal by Yussuf Poulsen. Peru had the Red and White on their heels most of the match with their unique short passing game. It was a credit to the Danes to get past the pesky Peruvians. Denmark’s second match was a dull 1-1 draw against Australia. It has to go down as a disappointment. The Socceroos have a huge amount of heart and a severe lack of talent. Yet Denmark could do little against the plucky Aussies. Denmark’s third match was a dreadful 0-0 draw against France. The game was worse than a friendly in that neither team asserted itself fully with Round of 16 tickets already punched.
Players to Watch
Christian Eriksen was touted as the next Great Dane yet he has only one goal so far in the tournament. Eriksen is lacking the supporting cast necessary to fully flourish. For Croatia, Luka Modric leads the most talented corps of midfielders in the world. Modric’s domination of Messi and Argentina stunned everyone also earned immediate respect and admiration.
Croatia vs. Denmark Free Picks
Croatia has shown far more ability than Denmark in this tournament. And Modric will be the best player on the pitch in this match. The Blazers midfield should stifle what little the Red and White can generate offensively.
Croatia vs. Denmark Pick: Bet the money line on Croatia
Croatia vs. Denmark Score Prediction: Croatia 2, Denmark 0
