2019 US Open Betting Odds Preview Free Picks

The US Open is the last of the Grand Slam events each year. It’s the last time for up and comers to make a name for themselves, and the final time that all the stars are in action as they strive to win one of four majors. On the men’s side of the bracket, the familiar trio of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer are the overwhelming favorites, but the women’s side is more wide open with all the participants at 5-1 or more.

Novak Djokovic is almost even money to win the US Open. Djokovic has had a lot of success at this event this decade, making it to the finals seven times and he was won the US Open three times. He has already won two majors, and he has been the No. 1 ranked player for almost nine months. Djokovic lost to Daniil Medvedev in the Western and Southern Open semifinals, but he will be the man to beat in Flushing.

Rafael Nadal will be his biggest competition. Nadal has been able to stay healthy, and he has avoided the major knee injuries that have plagued him over the latter half of the grueling season in recent years. He won the 2017 US Open, and he cruised to the Canadian Open title two weeks ago.

The legendary Roger Federer is the third favorite, but he should have longer odds. Federer was superb in nearly toppling Djokovic at Wimbledon, but he has not won a US Open title in 11 years. There’s no value in him at this price, and it would be advantageous to fade him.

Nine different women have won the last 12 Grand Slam singles, so there is no overwhelming favorite to win the Women’s US Open. Serena Williams and Simona Halep have won two titles in the last three years, and those are the two favorites.

Williams is still the best player in the world, and she has claimed 23 Grand Slam singles over the course of her career. Her incredible serve is hard to return on hard courts, but the grind of two weeks can wreak havoc on her knees. There is value in playing her at these odds though, as she should cruise through the first week or so.

Halep is the wildcard at the US Open. She has been incredibly hit or miss at majors over the last four years, crashing out in the first round of the 2016 and 2017 Australian Open as well as the 2017 and 2018 US Open. Halep has also won two of the last six majors though, so she can’t be discounted.
