Nebraska +6.5 vs Ohio State

If you’re going to knock off Ohio State, this is the year. Urban Meyer retired this offseason, and the young Ryan Day is the new man in charge in Columbus. Day has his work cut out for him after Meyer’s incredible run, and he will be trying to succeed despite there being a lot of turnover in terms of both the coaching staff and the players.

Dwayne Haskins and Nick Bosa both left early for the NFL, and Day will be leaning heavily on five-star prospect Justin Fields after Tate Martell transferred to Miami in the offseason. Fields has a lot of potential, but he is still learning a new system after initially enrolling at Georgia.

Scott Frost’s teams always fare much better in the second year, and Nebraska fans are banking on that turnaround after a 4-8 campaign in 2018. Adrian Martinez has a lot of promise, and the Huskers could easily be 4-0 heading into this game.

Washington -8 vs USC

It’s a rebuilding year in Seattle after so much success the last few seasons, but Chris Petersen still has his eyes set on a Pac 12 title. Stars like Jake Browning, Myles Gaskin, and Byron Murphy may be gone, yet there is still plenty of talent. That has Washington looking to win its third Pac 12 title in four seasons.

The Huskies have a fantastic offensive line. Four of five starters return, and the fifth offensive lineman is Trey Adams. Adams has the talent to be a first-round pick, but a torn ACL and a bulging disc in his back have kept him on the sidelines for most of the last two seasons. If he can stay healthy, Washington could have a surprisingly good season in 2019.

Football Sports Betting

Utah -3.5 vs Washington State

The Utes can no longer be considered a sleeper. Utah won 9 games and claimed the Pac 12 South title last season, and Kyle Whittingham brings a lot of production back from last year. Tyler Huntley has plenty of experience at the quarterback position, and Zack Moss will become the first running back in school history to surpass 1,000 yards in three straight seasons provided he stays healthy.

Washington State will be a tougher test than many opponents. The strength of Utah’s defense is in the trenches with a massive defensive line, but Mike Leach doesn’t run the ball much. That could submarine Utah’s hopes of winning the conference.

North Texas +8 vs Houston

This is going to be one of the most fun non-conference games between Group of Five schools. Houston and North Texas have a small rivalry since both schools are in Texas, and the Mean Green have something to prove.

Mason Fine is special. North Texas’ quarterback isn’t quite six-foot, but he is a playmaker, and he led the Mean Green to a massive blowout over Arkansas last year. Fine could have massive numbers against a Houston defense that is looking quite porous, and this game could easily have 80 points.

North Carolina +27 vs Clemson

Welcome back to Chapel Hill, Mack Brown. After five years in the booth, Brown returned to coaching and he is back where he made a name for himself. Brown took the Tar Heels to new heights during his 10 years at the school, but it’s been 22 years since he was at North Carolina and expectations aren’t high.

This is going to be a wake-up call for Brown and UNC. Clemson is favored by nearly four touchdowns per the college football betting odds despite being on the road, and many will be betting on the Tigers to cover.
