Counter Strike - Global Offensive Betting OddseSports Betting OddsCounter-Strike may have started as a mod, but it has since become one of the most loved first-person shooters. The original Counter-Strike was released as a mod for Half-Life back in 1999, and over time it has grown to become one of the premier games in term of eSports and its competitive scene. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the fourth game in the series and is the most popular iteration of the franchise yet. This game is still going strong in its sixth year of action, and the competitive scene has boomed over the past four years. It is now one of the biggest eSports in the world.

CS:GO - The Game

There have been other first-person shooters with large fanbases that have challenged CS:GO as the top game in the genre over the years, but CS:GO has continued to be the gold standard. Series like HALO and Call of Duty have been very popular with the average gamer. However, the competitive scene has trailed behind CS:GO for the last five years. Much of this has to do with the platform of the games. Whereas HALO and Call of Duty are largely console games, CS:GO is only played on a computer at the competitive level. Console games have never quite caught on like computer games have, and that has helped CS:GO thrive.

If you’re playing with a group of buddies, there are a number of game modes you can play in CS:GO. However, with regards to the competitive scene, the only game mode you see is Bomb Defusal. In Bomb Defusal, one team (Terrorists) has 1:55 to plant the bomb and have it detonate, and the other team (Counter-Terrorists) must keep that from happening. Terrorists win the round if they kill all members of the opposing team or have the bomb detonate, while Counter-Terrorists win the round if they kill all members of the opposing team and don’t allow the bomb to go off.

There are typically 30 rounds in a game, but the first team to 16 automatically wins as long as they win by two rounds. If the game ends tied at 15, then the teams go into overtime, where one side must defeat the other by two. Most competitive matches are series that are best-of-three games.

Currently, there are seven maps that you can play in CS:GO - Inferno, Train, Nuke, Mirage, Overpass, Cache, and Dust II. Maps will occasionally rotate in and out of play as patches change the meta slightly though.

CS:GO - The eSport

The CS:GO scene has evolved drastically over the past few years. In its first three years, a $250,000 prize pool qualified a tournament to be a major. However, as interest and sponsorship has grown, the pool has been upped to $1 million. There are many other tournaments that will still hold tournaments with purses of $100,000 or more, but the majors are the gold standard.

Although CS:GO doesn’t have much support in Asia, it might be the most popular game in Europe, particularly Eastern Europe. Many of the best teams in the world are in Eastern Europe, and many of the game’s best players hail from that region originally. As a result, you will find most games streaming in both English and Russian.

The game is very popular in North America too. It took a few years for majors to be held in North America, but there has been one $1 million tournament held in the region in each of the last three years. Although it’s not as popular in North America as it is in Europe, CS:GO has a strong foothold in North America.
