Diamond King last ran on April 21, 2018 in the Federico Tesio at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland where he was the winner with Holland Park finishing second and Noble Commander coming in third. Prior to that Diamond King finished third behind Strike Power and Gotta Go in the Grade Three Swale at Gulfstream Park on February 3, 2018. Those are the only two races that Diamond King has run in 2018 making him a capable and dangerous horse that will have plenty of energy for the Preakness Stakes. In 2017 Diamond King picked up wins in maiden and allowance races as well as the Heft at Laurel Park on December 30, 2017.
John Servis has scored major race wins as a trainer in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes both in 2004 with Smarty Jones in a memorable Triple Crown bid. He trained Cathryn Sophia to the Kentucky Oaks win just two years ago. He has well over 1,000 career wins.
So far in 2018 jockey Frankie Pennington has earned over a million and a half dollars which adds to his lifetime earnings of over $60 million. He has over 2000 career wins.
