Preakness Stakes Odds - Horse handicappers have a love and hate relationship with the Preakness Stakes. On one hand it is the second jewel of horse racing’s Triple Crown and offers the prestige that comes with that. On the other hand, the Kentucky Derby favorite nearly always enters Pimlico as the big betting favorite that is going up against horses that skipped the Derby. One of those horses that took a pass on Derby Day is Givemeaminit. This three-year-old colt will enter the Preakness Stakes as a classic “close but no cigar” horse. At least so far that is!
The Preakness Stakes will go to post on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 6:20 p.m. ET at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Catch the Preakness States live on NBC.

Givemeaminit is a three-year-old colt by Star Gultar and Powerful Nation with Dallas Stewart as trainer and Corey J. Lanerie as jockey. The owner is Valene Farms LLC with the breeder being Clear Creek Stud LLC.
Dallas Stewart has been one of the most consistent trainers in the United States with over 771 wins for his career. He began his career under the tutelage of Hall of Famer D. Wayne Lucas and is based in Kentucky where he is well respected at all of the tracks in that region.
Givemeaminit last ran on May 5, 2018 at Churchill Downs in the Grade Three Pat Day Mile where he finished in third place behind Funny Duck and New York Central. The race had a time of 1:37.16.
Before that run in the Pat Day Mile, Givemeaminit competed in the Grade Two Louisiana Derby at Fair Grounds Park on March 24, 2018. In the Louisiana Derby Givemeaminit finished in fourth place behind Noble Indy, Lone Sailor, and My Boy Jack with a race time of 1:50.28. The race was one and one eighth miles in length.
On February 17, 2018 Givemeaminit took part in the Grade Two Risen Star at Fairgrounds Park. The race was one and one sixteenth miles in length and was taken by Bravazo with Snapper Sinclair in second and Noble Indy in third. For Givemeaminit it was a bitterly disappointing day with a final finish of in eighth place.
Why Givemeaminit Will Win the Preakness Stakes
Givemeaminit has a solid trainer and has only run in three races for the year. Kentucky Derby winner Justify will be coming off the stress of preparation and then making that successful run for the roses. There is no doubt that Givemeaminit will be fresher. Beyond that the colt has shown competitive potential on the resume.
Why Givemeaminit Won't Win the Preakness Stakes
Givemeaminit has simply not produced in his biggest career races. There is nothing on the record that points to success at Pimlico.
The Final Verdict
Givemeaminit should finish out of the money at the Preakness.
