Preakness Stakes Odds - Lone Sailor was a classic “also ran” in the Kentucky Derby with a quite forgettable eight place finish. Lone Sailor was never in contention although he did climb from 15th place to sixth at the final stretch before fading at the end. Lone Sailor has a mixed record with just one anonymous win in a maiden run last summer. But there have been enough close calls that make Lone Sailor a classic long shot with a chance to win the Preakness Stakes. Anyone looking for a potential hidden gem that brings value at Pimlico will give Lone Sailor consideration.
The Preakness Stakes will go to post on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 6:20 p.m. ET at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. Catch the Preakness States live on NBC.

Lone Sailor is a three year old Bay Colt by Majestic Warrior and Ambitious with trainer Thomas M. Amoss and jockey James Graham. The owner is GMB Racing and the Breeder is Alexander Groves Matz LLC.
Prior to his run in the crowded and sloppy Kentucky Derby, Lone Sailor garnered attention and some grudging respect in the Grade Two Louisiana Derby at Fairgrounds Park on March 24, 2018. In the Louisiana Derby, Lone Sailor finished in second place behind Noble Indy, one of the top Kentucky Derby favorites. The run by Lone Sailor caught a lot of horse players and fans off guard based on weak performances in his prior two races.
On January 13, 2018 Lone Sailor finished a pathetic ninth place in the Grade Three LeComte at Fairgrounds Park as Instilled Regard won the race with Principe Guilherme second and Snapper Sinclair coming in third.
On November 25, 2017 Lone Sailor finished in fifth place in the Grade Two Kentucky Jockey Club in which Enticed was the winner with Tiz Mischief coming in second and Promises Fulfilled finishing third. The race took place at Churchill Downs.
On October 29, also at Churchill Downs. Lone Sailor showed potential with a second place finish in the Street Sense finishing behind only Gotta Go with Bravazo coming in third. Bravazo ran in the Kentucky Derby and is expected to be one of the top choices for the Preakness Stakes.
Why Lone Sailor Will Win the Preakness Stakes
Lone Sailor has shown just enough on his resume to merit consideration to finish in the money with an outside chance at pulling off an upset win. The effort in the Louisiana Derby in particular is something gamblers can point towards.
Why Lone Sailor Won't Win the Preakness Stakes
Lone Sailor has simply failed to close the deal in his big races and has not proven to be a top tier contender.
The Final Verdict
Not much should be expected of Lone Sailor and he is unlikely to finish in the money.
